Subaru doesn't include the washer either.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

I have a fumoto drain valve on my subaru. Haven't had to worry about crush gaskets for about 6 years now haha

I had the same setup.

One thing to note, the black Mazda filters do not come with a crush washer :( So it may be a good idea to order a bunch online as I had to go to Auto Value and purchase 2 (M20 size) for $5!

You're kidding me, the Mazda parts counter doesn't include the crush washers your Subaru needs?   :sarcasm:

Every filter I've ever purchased from the dealer has had a crush washer with it, I've never had to ask for one.

Pretty sure he was just mentioning it to serve as a reminder for others, but maybe I'm wrong and he was hoping for your useless, sarcastic remark?  :sarcasm:

Whenever I bought a blue one, or a napa one, no crush washer. Only the oldschool black ones I bought in '08 had them.

Back at toyota we use to pop one in each oil filter box we sold over the counter as a convenience thing as they were worth dick all cost, people came to assume they just came in the box with our filters. Could be a similar situation.

Hmm, the parts guys here must just have too much time on their hands, there's always a little slit in the plastic at the top with a washer slid in there.
I'm sure they still charge for it though, it is the stealership after all.  ::)
Edit: Pretty much what Canuckrz said haha.

Apparently the point of his comment went soaring over your head as you were driving to butthurt town. The filter was purchased at Mazda. Mazda doesn't make the Subaru vehicle that Stehle drives and thus doesn't make or provide parts for it. Even if the Mazda oil filter came with a washer, that doesn't mean it'd fit the Subaru vehicle it's being frankensteined onto.

No, I said it "does not come with a crush washer".
I did not say, "it does not come with a crush washer for my subaru".

Do you guys seriously question why there are less and less new WSC members?  :sarcasm:

I don't expect a Mazda washer to fit onto a Subaru, then again, I also don't expect a Mazda filter to fit a Subaru.
Yes, the Subaru filters I've bought from the dealership (~3 months ago) had included a crush washer under the plastic wrap.

Jesus, a lot of panties are getting bunched up over a harmless quip about a crush washer.

Those black crush washers are bad for the environment, anyone who still uses them is literally human scum. The new metal ones are recyclable and I'm pretty sure nestle makes the black crush washers in BC somewhere.
