Stella - The 2008 BMW 135i M - Stage 1 FLASHED
« on: May 30, 2015, 10:22:03 pm »
Well, it was time to move on from my Subaru 57 weeks after i purchased it to be exact. Im purchasing a house this year and i didn't really want to deal with the problems that come with an EJ down the road since my car was out of warranty and the STi just wasn't me to be honest.  If you have never drove an 135i or 335i i suggest you go take one for a ride, the TQ will have you smiling from ear to ear all the way as low as 1500 RPM.  The refinement in the interior is on a new level compared to the STi, for example little things like the seats and sound dampening to the lights on the door handles at night, everything just works.

Here is Stella

Its a 2008 135i Premium 6-Speed, coloured in Alpine white with a red coral interior with 78,000 K on the odometer (pretty much a unicorn to find these days that are under 100,000K). The car is completely stock other than a BMS dual intake and a M-Performance exhaust installed by BMW that sounds like a small V8. I don't plan on doing much to this vehicle other than cosmetic things as it is still under warranty for another 60,000K or 3 years

Dat red leather...

Very nice. I've always loved the 1s, they're like compact cars but Beamers which are the natural progression for just about everyone.

White just slays on BMWs too. Grats!

The 335i comes in a 4 door configuration.

Thanks, the red makes this car look newer than 08,  i think Jackal has the exact same model.

ill definitely take you up on that in the summer time, your photos are great.  & yes the N55 (2010 i believe) + came in a 4 door, same engine specs just a double scroll turbo rather then twin. But honestly if you don't have kids and don't need a lot of room for stuff there is plenty of space.  It only seats 4 though.

Also can a mod please move this to the right section

Yes I have the same model of car.  My VIN decoder says mine is a 135 is though,  but I've been told that didn't exist in Canada.  Same interior and all.

The N55 engine came in the 135i back in 2010 and was available across a few models at the time.

I heard the N55 stock tune is pretty bad compared to the N54, i was reading topics that they basically nerfed it and most people wernt happy with it

From my understanding yes.  Also I highly suggest getting a Accessport (if you dont have something already), and I am sure Jackal will agree.

My car is under warranty though which is the problem, any reason i would need an accessport ? the car is plenty fast for now

Congrats on the new car, but also, congrats on the quick sale of your GR!  Man, the market is just saturated with them.

Where are you guys finding these 7 years old BMWs under warranty?

BMW warranty or some aftermarket warranty.

So after work today i decided to get a little exhaust clip of the M-Performance exhaust on a cold start.  Im not sure how i feel about it coming from a catless Subaru since it had such a unique sound. Personally i think it sounds like a small V8, no drone and it is not too loud once its warmed up.

So tonight i took off the BMS intakes and swapped them with someone that had the stock one.  Two filters just sitting beside the block is just up-taking really hot air rather then the stock intake which technically is a cold air intake since the only source of air it can pull is from the grill. I feel bad for BMW technicians that have to do this everyday as it was a itchbay and a half to try and line up the two inlets for the turbos while trying to attach it to the grommets.  If theres one thing i hate most it would have to be lining up pipes.

45 min later

I have also ordered some black BMW overlays to go along with the black accents on my car and the plasti dipped badges on the back because whats a new car without a little bit of plasti dip.

Other than that i will be looking into getting another set of rims soon and remove the staggered wheels and replace the run flats with some real tires, I really want the e46 rims but in black just like this :

Im budgeting around $2000 for tires and rims

Yes i know, very exciting update   O0

I like the work so far.  I have been looking at intakes recently.  I really wan to run a dyno pull before changing though.  I want to get quantitative evidence for/against the intake.

From what I've read on 1addicts and the e90 forum they basically say to stay away from intakes unless your running higher than stock boost levels, your running a Cobb tune  though right ? What are the boost perameters set at. There are some dyno sheets floating around on 1addicts showing pulls with stock intake and cone style intakes with the hood up and down. Basically what I gathered from it all was that if you replace the stock filter with a K&K drop in filter it yields the most power and has the lowest heat temps. What intakes have you had your eye on, there's some nice ones out there

I'v been liking the AFE because of the separate enclosure it has for the filters. I was thinking about gold taping the underside of the enclosure as well.

I'd be curious to see a dyno chart for it, too bad it wasn't enclosed at the top at connected directly with the snorkel.  The gold tape is a good idea but its hella expensive.

the 135i badge doesnt look to bad when its dipped, its not over the top
