Good looking 135. Great choice on wheels, they look fantastic in person. ;)

I'd be curious to see a dyno chart for it, too bad it wasn't enclosed at the top at connected directly with the snorkel.  The gold tape is a good idea but its hella expensive.

There is also the Mr.5 intake system to look at on a budget.  Going back to the stock setup,  you may be interested in that.  Have a search on 1addicts for the Mr.5 intake DIY.

There is some dyno's and turbo performance metrics if you dig deep enough.

So got my tint done today
5% in the back and 35% up front.  I think it turned out good and definitely keeps the sun out a bit better. lets just hope the cops leave me alone as it is darker than i would have liked it for legal reasons.

The tint was done by Darksidez tinting & 3M (a good friend of ours) and costed me $200 for everything.

Well only 2 weeks after owning the car its already on a tow truck, water pump failed on deerfoot.  I managed to limp the car up the hill to 16th Ave and now she sits at BMW for them to fix.  Good thing they are doing it for free since i just bought the car its just not fun being stuck on deerfoot in the pissing rain.

You would think buying a bmw would be more reliable then a Subaru  :P

Also, the tint looks reeeaaal nice!!

Rear wheel drive right?  Shouldn't they be towing from the rear with the fronts rolling?

Also, 1 year with Subaru no issues, right?

BMW water pumps are the worst! They've been bad since the 90's, but BMW still keeps making them.

They had it on a dolly, so no wheels were on the ground. I took this picture after they took them off.

Yeah I've heard it pretty common, I don't know why they don't change the design of them. It stupid how they use an electric pump that's controlled by the ecu with no coolant temp gauge.  Bmw said they don't put coolant gauges in the cars because people would get confused as they would bounce around too much just by nature of the pump and would make you think something's wrong

Nothing bad happened from a failed water pump like warped heads?

The car shuts down right when it senses it over heating. It'll still idle but won't let you go anywhere so I'm assuming it puts it into limbo mode far before the heads can warp or block can crack

The nanny for the BMW is astounding.

As an aside, do you have the upgraded brake package? Do you find they squeal like crazy?

Yes i have the big brakes and they squeal like crazy, one of these days i need to take them apart and clean them.  I have also noticed the brake dust they give off is insane compared to STi brembos.

Have you noticed the same or do you have the regular brake package ?

Don't bother taking them apart, go do a good brake bedding on them and it will certainly help.  We have to do it at least once a month on my moms 135i to keep the squeal down.  All 135i came with the 6/2 piston fixed caliper brakes.

Mine squeal like hell.  It's horrible.

Bedding doesn't help.  With mine it only stops after a thorough cleaning.  I use Brake Dust Pro,  and you can see all the brake dust come out of the caliper.  It stops the squeal for a few days then it comes back.  When I got the car it was a couple weeks before the squeal started,  so I'm assuming there is a spot where it builds up more than others and needs a good dusting.

I put Stop Tech pads in mine when I had it off Rock Auto, they were a little better and they are CHEAP.

All performance pads make some noise.

Try a deep cleaning of the caliper.  Use a brake dust dissolve and really pay attention to the calipers.  Let me know if is squeals after that.

i will clean them and let you know.  On another not, i find this 6-speed transmission to be really finicky.  if you shift 1- 2nd too fast you get a grind (in my car that is) but if you shift it granny slow its perfectly fine so i hope its just a quirk and not a syncro shitting the bed on me.  Once the car heats up it gets a bit better but still doesn't like it sometimes.  I also find the transmission to be really notchy, its almost like you can " feel " the gears when you shift.

How does yours feel ?

that's one thing i loved more about my STi, the transmission.
