i will clean them and let you know.  On another not, i find this 6-speed transmission to be really finicky.  if you shift 1- 2nd too fast you get a grind (in my car that is) but if you shift it granny slow its perfectly fine so i hope its just a quirk and not a syncro shitting the bed on me.  Once the car heats up it gets a bit better but still doesn't like it sometimes.  I also find the transmission to be really notchy, its almost like you can " feel " the gears when you shift.

How does yours feel ?

that's one thing i loved more about my STi, the transmission.

Never had any problems with the transmission in mine.  It doesn't sound normal to me.  I know the Z4M did have a well know 1-2 gear grind at high RPM if you rushed the shift, but that was a different transmission.
I don't name things I know I'm going to sell eventually. Hence why I'd never name any kids I had.

If you can't go fast with 90HP, 900HP won't help you. - Bob Hall

I was getting the squeal back again the last week or so.  The buildup from racing must have been excessive.  I hit them with the BDP and the pressure washer and again the sound has been gone for the nights driving and the commute in to work.

I'm racing again this weekend and will be looking at the brakes early next week.  I have an alignment coming up on Wednesday (max camber) and will ensure that the brakes are squeaky clean.  (see what I did there?)  I'll take pictures of anywhere that seems to have build up for knowledge base.

that would be great, these brakes drive me insane. I find after it rains the squeak is gone for the most part

Super boring update with ittshay iphone pics and a dirty car...

My black overlays came in the mail yesterday so i thought i would throw one on the back and one on the front.  I think it makes the car stand out a bit better from all the other BMW's on the road today.

Also a fun fact for the day.  In 2008 BMW released the first production of the 135i, and quoted from this article

Quote
Drivers who purchase a
2008 BMW 1 Series will be reminded that they are one of the few lucky
drivers of the next BMW icon every time they start or stop their cars.

Quote
"Forty years ago, BMW introduced a car, the legendary 2002, that
changed the American automotive landscape. That car was a pivotal car in
the history of BMW and is still revered by aficionados today. We believe
the 1 Series will be as important to the history of BMW in America,"

used a clay bar and waxed the car today, for not knowing much about detailing i think it turned out pretty good. I ended up picking up some AutoGlym wax for about $60 to try out and im impressed with the finish it leaves. From start to finish it took me about 4 hours.

Doooooooooode, you gotta go checkout the interior/exterior detailing thread! I was using some of the autoglym stuff for my interior and now compared to some products I picked up from CarZilla in Calgary (16th ave) - the autoglym stuff felt soooooo greasy in comparison!! I threw it out haha.. I can't speak much for the wax stuff though, the pics look like some great results!!

Yeah basically anything that you can buy from Canadian tire and whatnot to detail the inside of your  car is crap imo haha, I've never checked out Carzilla though. How are the prices? The wax autoglym makes didn't seem to be greasy, it came in a paste that you use a applicator pad to scoop it out of the container and came off fairly easy after it sat on the car for a bit

If interested,  I may be looking at selling a Cobb AP (Stage 1 puts like 310HP to the wheels.  It's a huge jump in power).  I may also have a set of extremely light wheels and a pair of Shrothe racing harnesses for sale.  Also have the Whiteline subframe bushings and the diff bushings available.  Never installed.

Hit me up and we can chat if you're interested.

Re: Stella - The 2008 BMW 135i M - Wheel Color Poll
« Reply #58 on: April 11, 2016, 03:04:35 pm »
So, time to update this "project" as i have been pretty lazy with it lately. Within the months i have done the following modifications/maintenance to the car;

* LUX Color Adjustable Angel Eyes / which by the way is a huge pain in the assay to install !

* Black trunk lip - Will update with a photo later
* Black Kidney Grills - Will update with a photo later
* Changed my drive belt and all pulleys
* New tires, Bridgstone Potenza RE-11's ( 255 & 215's )
* Transmission fluid flush and change with Redline

Im about to pull the plug on some VMR wheels but i need some help with what color is should go with... the wheels im interested in are

VMR 710's
18X8.5 +45 in the front
18X9.5 +50 in the back

http://www.velocitymotoring.com/vmr-wheels/

Here are the color options, im leaning towards black to match the rest of the car but im unsure yet, what do you guys think ?

Ordered myself a new clutch stop, the travel on the clutch pedal is way to long on this car - thank god someone built a solution for it. Here is a pic of the stock clutch stop on the left and the aftermarket one on the right, it reduces the travel by 30%.

So far it really changed how the car feels with the cushion on the end of it, it has some give to it.

Thanks,  and I understand.  I liked them because it gives me that German muscle car kind of feel.  That, and the significant weight reduction.

Let me know if I can help you out with any of the other parts I have for sale.

So my beamer has been experiencing a rough idle recently and some misfire codes, figured it was due to carbon build up. here is what i found after i took off the I/M , my car currently has 93,000K - quite surprising if you ask me  :o

To order the equipment to clean it out myself will cost me around $300, is there any shops in Calgary that have done a carbon cleaning before and have the Walnut blaster ?

One of the big problems with DI engines. Just another maintenance item that you need to perform every few years.

I plan to buy all the equipment to do the walnut blasting myself when the time comes. Airboy seems to be having good sucess running water/meth injection to help with the buildup and it also looks like it is cleaning up his valves nicely.

Yeah i saw that within his thread, methanol is not an option for me right now but looks like its working pretty good for him. BMW quotes $1000 to do the blasting which is ridiculous.

You need to find an independent garage to do it. I hear the service typically costs 350-450.

I know Euroworks performs walnut blasting in Calgary and from what I hear, it's reasonably priced.

Yup euro works quoted me $525, not too bad of a price. Would be nice to support some of the independent shops on the forum but i believe most of them dont do this kind of thing, they might start though with more people on the roads with new WRX's

My plan for the 15+ WRX is to buy the equipment and then 3rd print or get a machine shop to make an adapter to match the OEM intake size and then have 2 holes for the vacuum and walnut blaster. There are a few of us already willing to split the costs so equipment will stay within the community and we can offer it as a rental down the road.

So i ended up getting the service done by Euroworks, WOW what a difference. My car definitely fees like a brand new car that can breathe again. Below is a photo showing what my valves look like after they got blasted. Also i would highly recommend euroworks and will be using them in the future, very customer driven type of company which i like.
