Tomei Titanium exhaust crack
« on: June 15, 2015, 06:29:14 pm »
So my Tomei Expreme exhaust recently developed a bit of a 'exhausty leaky'  sound ,

and i'v found there is a crack in one of the joints towards the muffler section ... Replacment section of  pipe from Tomei is approx 500$ ...

is this repairable ? weldable ?   the crack is aprox 2" long ,  and would love to not have to pay 500$ to repair it ..

any input or thoughts appreicated .. . pictures below

You might want to call Unobtanium Welding since he welds titanium.

Tomei should warrantee that. Give them a shout.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

I looked him up , chatted to him , and this is looking like the best option so far ..

that was my first though ,  i touched base with Rallysportdirect,  (where i purchased the exhaust)  and sent them some pics,  waiting to hear back from them ,   but was advised that Tomei does not have a Mfg warranty ,   (also stated on the website )

sigh .

but either way, thanks for the input!

well if thats the case, i will wait to hear back from RSD ..  i hope they are able to help me out ... even a repair will set me back a few hundred dollars ..

And the exhaust has no dents/scrapes/anything .. .  just a crack ...      is Faruken a member here?

Hope it works out for you. If not, I also recommend Unobtanium, but they're located in Langdon (East of Calgary).

I know a guy. Does Unobtanium quality welding, and loves titanium. But he's also in Calgary...

We'll see what comes from RSD.

Well, sooner follow up than i expected ...   I heard back from RSD ,  he sent me a pre-numbered RMA to return the cracked section to Tomei for replacement.     He said reviewing my detailed pics , Tomei offered to replace the section ...   :-\

the exhaust is honestly in very good shape otherwise,  no scraps or dents/bangs ... hopefully it is as easy as this ...   will update when its resolved ...

thanks for all the comments guys

Good luck. Sucks that you'll need to swap back to stock, or leave the car for a bit, but I hope it all works out.

so i thought i would follow up with this thread ,

so after sending my broken portion of the exhaust to Tomei in California ,  Today i received my replacement exhaust piece.  Tomei Sent it Prepaid express to my house..

i could not be happier with Rallysportdirects customer service on this one .. (or in General for that matter)

They really acted as a liason(?) for the whole process.  Tomei was actually quite good too ..

either way, im a happy camper now ,  reinstalling the exhuast this weekend ..
