I spent a good portion of my Friday night prepping the vehicle for clear film. As I suspected there was a few minor swirls and a large amount of contamination that needed to be dealt with.

Here is a shot of the front fender.

Here is the front fender after a light paint correction

I got the vehicle back yesterday from clear film and I am really happy with the outcome. Derek @ Car Pretty did a fantastic job. Not only can you barely tell the film is on the vehicle but he wrapped as many edges as he could. I ended up getting the complete front bumper, headlights, mirrors, partial hood and partial fenders done. I am happy to report that the partial hood actually covers about half the hood which includes the entire hood scoop.

The small details of wrapping under the bumper, all the edges of the hood and as much of the fenders as possible really impressed me. I am also interested to see how this film (Xpel Ultimate) compares to my previous vehicles film.

Now I just have to wait a few days before washing the vehicle :-\

Oh darn, I was told you can't wrap around edges due to the film coming off when they're going around small edges and surfaces.

Rats, I want my car redone.

Obviously in the corners he couldn't wrap around the edge. Where he could wrap around the edge he did though. He also wrapped a good 2 inches under the bumper as well.

Congrats again! The car looks great.
I bet those dead bugs are "bugging" you til you can finally wash it  ;D (I'll see myself out).

I'm glad you had a good experience with Car Pretty. Wrapping around edges is definitely something I'd want on my vehicle.
Would you personally recommend Car Pretty over others in Edmonton, like say, Clear Choice?

I can't comment on Clear Choice because I have never gone there but I really like how Derek explained to me the process and he stands behind the product he installs. I found a bubble on the hood and he dropped by after work to take care of it for me. I know that if I have any concerns or questions he with be there to answer or address the issue without question.

I would definitely recommend Car Pretty for clear film or vinyl.

Also if you want to check out the clear film  in person just let me know.

Xpel ultimate is the way to go for sure, it is by far the best film on the market. Even if there is small bubbles they will typically breath out of the film within a week or so, same with small scratches. Or if you want them to heal out sooner you can pour very hot water on the film in the affected area.
Clear choice uses Suntek film, which isn't a bad film but Xpel is much better quality. Also Clear choice typically does not wrap edges, however they still do very good work.

As for plans regarding the car, I'm going to start saving for when the engine blows up.

Might be to early to ask but with the 3m on a white car, what would you use to clean the 3m to avoid stains or discoloring?

Congrats on the car by the way. Looks great!

I got my LED bulbs from Prolightz today. The kit for the 2015 WRX was very complete and included dome, map, truck, vanity and license plate bulbs. Shipping was free and it came quickly. Each set of bulbs was clearly labelled with the location it is suppose to be installed. The install was simple and all the bulbs worked as they should.

Here is a quick before and after of the LED C light upgrade.

Rubbing alcohol will typically remove all stains from film if regular car wash soap wont.

Xpel Ultimate claims to last 10 years before any discoloration. I plan to treat the film like I would paint. The film with get a nano glass paint coating and will be decontaminated twice a year.

I also filled the vehicle up for the first time since I picked her up. I did a lot more highway driving than I typically do but I am still impressed.

I plan on tracking every single tank on Fuelly. First tank I averaged 8.65 l/100km = 27.2 US MPG

Now I just need to do a proper retrofit. On a side note I had to drive to Grimshaw for work today. Its been a long 18 hour day but the WRX didn't skip a beat the entire 1100km journey.

I think I averaged around 7.4 l/100km which is roughly 31 US mpg.

The bugs though. It is brutal. Pictures to come tomorrow.

That's a great way to break it in too. Amazing fuel economy! I think I'm almost sold lol

That's crazy. When I did the drive to GP I was lucky if I dipped below 10l/100km

The WRX got absolutely hammered with bugs on yesterdays 1100 km road trip. I took some time this morning to give the vehicle a quick rinse so the bug guts don't get a chance to etch into the clear film or the paint.

Before I pressure washed the vehicle I pre-soaked all of the bugs with Poorboys World Bug Squash diluted down 1:2 with water.

After the vehicle was presoaked it was wand washed with soap and then rinsed with water. The wash is not perfect but it got the job done until I can do a proper wash after work.

A few parts also arrived in the mail. Yum Candy.

Tonight I decided to tackle installing the newly acquired parts. Overall everything was really easy to install with the included instructions.

I am really happy with the Perrin shifter bushing and shift stop. Those 2 parts completely transform the dull shifter on the wrx.
