Time for an upgrade.
« on: June 26, 2015, 04:05:31 am »
First off apologies if this is in the wrong spot.

I have a 97 gf8, ej20k. I want to put a ej207 I think. After a little bit of thinking I figure I need the whole block, an power fc (or similar), and gaskets and such for exhaust etc. now remember I said a little bit of thinking, so this is a very early list, what else will I need? If I put the engine in and down the road look at injectors and bigger turbo, will I need to look at rebuilding the engine with fancy pistons and crank? The other thought I had was finding a long block ej207, use my 20k heads and intake, turbo, etc.

Just looking for thought as I am fairly new to these things. Thanks and cheers!

You will need to merge your whole wiring harness as well which can be a nightmare if you try to do it yourself. I haven't seen him active for a while, but you can ask GC8REX about his swap or look at his build thread if you have any questions. But in my opinion, stick with the 20k. If you maintain them properly and don't drive like an sholeasay they can last. It's not worth the headache until your motor goes.
