94 Oct for all
« on: December 02, 2008, 09:27:06 AM »
All Huskys in Calgary will have 94 oct gas by the end of the year. I'm guessing Edmonton as well. The Coventy Husky has 94 already. Woo hoo, I don't have to drive 15km's to get gas. The manager I talked to said 50 stations in Calgary area will have it.

So, are you guys happy with the 94 one?

I find that it burns faster than the 91 and my car doesn't run the same either.

I think it's all Huskys. The guy told me they got rid of the low grade. All Huskys will only carry 90, 92, and 94. He was itshay talking Shell 87, 89, and 91. It was rather funny.

I was told by the manager at husky on gasoline alley in red deer that they are getting rid of fuel under 90 and all husky will have 94 92 and 90 I think. He said they are already purging the 92 tanks with 94. This was over a month ago too

Stamos,

94 definitely burns faster in my car but I find that my car runs a lot smoother with it.  I get ~50 less kms from a tank of 94 than I do with 91.  Xray's post from another thread mentions that this is due to the Ethanol content in Husky 94 gas.

It's funny but i think mine runs better with 91. Then again it's been so long since i've used 94.
Thanks Tony.

That's good to hear. I stopped in there for gas today with my Prelude and they still only have 87 and 92.  I asked the punk kid working there and he didn't think they were getting it.  He also said some fas gas downtown has 94 which I don't believe.

With the extra Ethanol in the fuel you will notice less mileage vs. 91 at other stations and the tune will change slightly as the car generally uses more fuel because of the Ethanol. It is an awesome fuel though as we have noticed cars that pick up knock retard using 91 do not have it with 94. Also it does take more time for the O2's to heat up properly, especially on vehicles with long tube headers which relocate the front and rear O2's further down stream. I would always tune a car for 91 to keep that driveability and safety when 94 isn't available.

I also notice a large drop in the kms I get per tank with 94. I do lots of highway so when you go from getting over 500kms to a tank to around 450 its a definate noticeable change

I noticed a drop as well but since 94 octane was 92.4 cents a litre when I filled up yesterday, I think I'll bite the bullet and treat my car to some 'good' fuel. :)

Yea, it's likely a "as we upgrade the pumps" type process.  But who knows if *every* station has enough tanks for it...
