1998 Forester L blown motor
« on: July 14, 2015, 04:28:27 pm »
Hi there. I recently bought a 1998 Forester L for a daily driver, thinking i was getting a fair deal. Turns out the motor went from having light piston slap, to unbearably loud slapping/knocking. I'm almost certain the motor is blown after driving it only 2000km. The body is in mediocre shape with some rust on rear wheel wells and some body damage on the hatch. Any ideas as to how I can get the most money back from this car? It's currently on some pretty new Winter tires on stock 16" rims. I know Auto wreckers usually only offer 150$ or so. I don't have the time or space to part it out really so I'm looking for how I can recoup the most $$. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Contact the seller and see what he says.

Other avenue is to replace the engine with a used one.... I may have a contact for one, but he's in Calgary.
