Anyone out there have this update performed on their '15 wrx?

TSB#11-144-14

Called the dealer, gave them my VIN, they said nothing came up for my car, but that it was possible Subaru Canada was slightly behind Subaru in the States for issuing TSB's. Possible I'm not affected under this TSB?

Does this sound right? Guy kinda sounded like he had no idea what he was talking about, and I'm inclined to believe that as fact judging from most of my dealings with people at dealerships.

I have had my vehicle for 2 months so it might have the updated software?

Someone with a 2015 from last year would need to drive it though.

Pretty sure the throttle still hangs.

I found a copy of the TSBs

11-144-14
Application
2015 WRX 2.0l DIT with DTC P0420, P2610, P0134

Trans   Starting VIN       PAK FILE            New ECM        Old ECM                  New CID
6MT     F*813097       22765AG232.pak   22765AG232   22765AG230, 231    LV9N100D
CVT     F*813109       22765AG242.pak   22765AG242   22765AG240, 241    LV9N100C

11-143-14
Application
2015 WRX 2.0l DIT with DTC P0606

Trans   Starting VIN   Production Date Change
6MT     F*808788       May 6, 2014

CVT     F*808765       22765AG241.pak   22765AG241   22765AG240      LV9N100C

I also found a very interesting usage tips document on SSM III. Clicking on "vehicle information" will return an ECM summary page at the top is;

VIN
CID calibration identification
CVN calibration verification number
And then a frequency of diagnosis table for each ECM system.

Selecting "current data display" returns;

Number of DTCs (#)
Meter since DTC cleared (km)
Time since DTC cleared (min)
Time while MIL lighted (min)
...

Production for my vehicle is February 2015 so I probably have the updated firmware.

My VIN number is 83xxxx

Drive mine and see if it feels different? ???

Cool, if we swap some seat time we should be able to detect any differences between the two.

My VIN is a lower number than that. Production was certainly long before May 6, 2014, as I had my car within a week of that date and ordered it even earlier.

Did some testing on my way home today and my throttle hang is definitely improved over others without the flash.

My VIN is 8111xx, so I should have calibration x231. I tried unsuccessfully to confirm the calibration number using various scantools.

It seems both updates should be applicable to your car Rathburn, strange that Subaru of Canada has no knowledge of the TSBs. From what I have read, if your interested you should be able to produce a CEL P0606 code by short cycling the key run-off-run. That may cause them to investigate and discover the TSBs.

So I had the chance to go for a ride in 10seconds wrx last night (thanks dude!) and then drive mine afterwards. I don't think that the throttle hang is much different but the throttle mapping did seem to be noticeably more linear.

The best way that I can summarize is this way; In 10sec's car if you roll on the throttle power delivery is more linear and continues to build as you approach 100% throttle input (pedal on floor). In my car once you reach 30-50% throttle input the throttle body swings wide open, continuing to depress the throttle (60-100% input) does not result in any additional power output (because the throttle body was wide open at 30% pedal input)

Sunny has a graph that confirms the nonlinear throttle mapping I experience, all I can say is that the newer ECU revision does appear to be different. Better or not better is probably an individual preference, it might be worth considering that there is likely no way to get a dealer to downgrade the ECU revision once it's been upgraded to a newer revision.

For traction limited conditions and track events linear power delivery would likely be an advantage for hooning around I'm not sure ...

I have a late production 2015 with the updated calibration. Dudder drove my car and did notice an improvement with the throttle pedal linearity.

Dealer said the recall takes 4 hours - cylinders leak down test and reprogramming of ecu. Doing this along with my 20K service this Friday.

Off topic:   How much is your 20K service?

Edit/   I'm only seeing an Oil change required at 19.2K km's?   9.6 and 19.2.. They inspect some other stuff?

Guess I should've asked  :o

They're gonna charge you 500 bucks to kick your tires and take it for a test drive after they change your oil.

When did you get your car? How new is it, Kenuckie? Did they explain any of it to you, why the leak down test?

That sounds like a standard oil change at Mr. Lube minus the tire rotation, brake inspection, and road test...
