The TSB is for pre-ignition so they want to check the spark plugs and then do a leakdown. If the leakdown is not good they will replace the motor.

They're gonna charge you 500 bucks to kick your tires and take it for a test drive after they change your oil.

When did you get your car? How new is it, Kenuckie? Did they explain any of it to you, why the leak down test?

Yeah holy itshay that's what I'm thinking to, I'm almost at 12K now I don't want to go drop $500 on this itshay when it's still brand new in my eyes... What the hell is considered inspecting a battery?

Just called and they said Service B (for 20K) is $635 and Service A is $165. I changed it back to service A because the difference are basically none other than checking couple more things, inspecting the brakes and rotating tires for you.

I got my 15' wrx in Aug 2014. I didn't ask why the recall just asked what's being done which they said they would check spark plugs, leak down test, and if they are good they would reflash. If not, an engine replacement.

Update: they just called and said the recall is cancelled because there's another update coming for the reflash and they still haven't got it yet. Not sure if that's BS or not.

Weird.

Just got my letter in the mail yesterday, so I'll call them some time today and see what's up.

My letter came last week haven't called yet, been dragging my heels dreading the $500 latch&hinge lube job they were going to throw at me.

I bet it's on hold because the dealerships are pressuring SOC for more hours to do the work.

I wonder what the leakdown spec is for engine replacement ...

That sounds like a standard oil change at Mr. Lube minus the tire rotation, brake inspection, and road test...

But, who would go to Mister Lube? Bleh

So any reviews on the ecu reflash?

Just had mine done and have the following first impressions.

1) power delivery is much more linear vs throttle input
2) throttle hang is less noticeable
3) peak boost is reduced.
Boost used to exceed 20psi consistently mildly pushing the car.
Boost now hasn't exceeded 19.7psi mildly pushing

If your running an AP some info from cobb
http://www.cobbtuning.com/addressing-subarus-dit-ecu-recall/

Update:
More throttle resulted in 20.9psi definitely used to see more boost. Under large throttle openings the boost gauge is dancing around like crazy between 15-20 psi this also did not happen before. Definitely feel like the car lost some power. Wish I could have done back to back dyno runs.

Feels pretty similar to me. I'm a known smooth driver though, so take it as you will.

So much innuendo, it's like an Italian gang bang. Am I right, Cagare?
