Picked up September 8th, 2015 at Subaru City

After selling my 2012 GR STI back in December, I've been continuously looking for another car that could serve as my DD while also being fun to drive. After tons of test drives, a lot of back and forth between brands, I finally decided that a new WRX would fit my needs perfectly. For me, it seems like it is the best bang-for-the-buck car our there in its class, and the decision became that much easier when I looked at its crash test ratings as well as its fuel economy.
Having a WRX as my DD will also give me more room to invest in a proper summer car that does not necessarily have to be AWD.

The layout of this build thread has been shamelessly borrowed from 10secdream, as it is simple and easy to follow.

WSC decals have been ordered and they should be arriving in a week or so.

In the meantime, I need to somehow get my winter wheels from Edmonton, as they're already calling for snow up here on Saturday

I ended up driving down for a day. Had the oil changed while I was at it too.

The stock wheels have a +55mm offset.

Noted and changed in OP.

Also, winter wheels fit like a glove (aside from being 18s). I love that the WRX has a 5x114.3 bolt pattern now as well.

Sitting pretty on STI 5-spokes and Nokian Hakka R2s.

Also, average fuel economy on a recent trip up North. Husky 94 was in the tank, and I kept it in 5th for most of the drive.

dam that fuel economy the best i could do in mine in 6th and 2k rpm and in intelligent mode was 9.2l/100k on a trip to bc

That's actually pretty good. Best I could do in my GR was 9.8L/100km.

I find the factory gauge to be off by quite a bit. What was your actual l/100km for the trip?

I don't seem to have this screen on my WRX. I have one similar, but it doesn't show the same information at all! It shows -> L/100km CITY | L/100km HWY | Accel. % (with a little foot pedal icon that moves up/down lol)
Unless I'm completely oblivious and not seeing it.. Perhaps it's a setting that can be changed?

That screen is customizable and you can change what is in each slot. Pretty sure I have oil temp, boost, and fuel economy during ignition on.

Exactly as 10secdream mentioned, the screen is customizable. You have to find a setting called "triple meter" or something like that. You have to hold the middle button on the dash.

Quick update: filled up just now with Husky 94. I put 47.4L in the tank and my trip odo was showing 590km driven. By my calculations, that's an average of about 8L/100km, which is still not shabby. Keep in mind however, that this contains some city driving as well, in addition to winter tires being on the car.

I'll be sure to monitor actual consumption when I head down South again, so that I can capture ONLY highway fuel consumption.

For reference, the display was showing an average consumption of 7.6L/100km.

Yet another quick update.

Upon taking in the WRX to the dealer for the infamous clutch clicking noise, I was told that I would need to have the clutch cylinder replaced. Fast forward a few weeks later and I get a call last week informing me that the part has arrived from Japan. Having said that, I will be taking the car in to Subaru City to have the cylinder replaced on Monday morning (under warranty of course).

Hopefully the clicking noise stops after that. If it does not, from what I've read around online, the entire pedal assembly might need replacement. If the clicking noise is still present after the clutch cylinder is replaced, I will definitely push to have the entire pedal assembly replaced as a whole.

Seems that warranty isn't overrated after all

Oh wow. I never knew this was happening to you. I've heard a little online about these little issues and people bringing them in for warranty fixes. Haven't had anything yet myself *knock on wood*.

According to others, it might be a "typical Subaru noise" and in all fairness, it doesn't affect the performance of the car at all.

However, if I pay over $30k for a car, I'd like it to be noise free (at least until more km are on the odo). And since it's a warranty fix, might as well use use it while the car still has it.

I did see mention on other forums that Subaru of America has a TSB out for this clicking noise specifically. And the fix was the replace the entire pedal assembly. If the click is still there after today, I will definitely push for the changeout of the assembly as a whole. That should eliminate it completely.

I should have asked you yesterday to demo me the clicking. With my studded winters, heater running, musice and now muffler delete I have no idea if my car has the problem cause I can't hear any slight noises.
