Think I hit fuel cut
« on: October 30, 2015, 03:01:33 pm »
Both my level senders are pretty much pooched, although I do have between a third and a half tank right now based on odometer. Not sure if the fuel pump is getting tired too, the OEM pump failed on me in 2010 after ~75k km (at ~150k km now), perhaps this one is failing too? I'm sure Husky gas is doing my fuel system no favours.

Bigger log, but the highlighted cells at ~397 seconds were when I experienced the cut. No knock events to note at that point.

I'm sure I'm missing the key parameter...hopefully link works for you: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yrg-QKNNV3MtG2bPlZN3OplIVAW213IedS15BM_cDEM/edit?usp=sharing

'06 WRX VF43, downpipe, tuned by Sunny, etc... etc... Specifics in link in my signature.

What did the car do? Something happened, fer sher.

That's probably not "fuel cut", though. Fuel cut is an intentional event; from reaching a boost limit, rev limit, whatever. A weak fuel pump doesn't cause fuel cut.
I may scream like a dainty lady, but I punch like a fairly strong 11-year-old.

Sudden loss of power and a bit of a jolt like when my pump completely failed back in '10. Car kept driving/running this time though.

You are leaning out toward the end of the log. Probably losing fuel pressure.

Gain 50 ft-lbs, ask me how! :-)

Thanks Sunny, so fuel filter and/or pump are a strong possibility?

darkthekai, was going very straight, a very slight uphill grade.

Was a fuelling issue, although not because of a fault in the fuel system. Battery was stupid weak and pump wasn't able to run fast enough.

Will be getting a new pump shortly however since my fuel senders are both tired, and might as well replace it all at once seeing as the pump is a 5 y.o. anyways.
