Mini 0805 is also suppose to be a solid choice at around $100

cheap android phone... you can use it to record videos, and have app running in background recording itinerary and speed that you can import to google earth

good app is speedview
you can add torque with obd reader and then record your engine load, temp, boost etc...

Will police/insurance companies actually use the film to prove you're innocent? I'm sure they do, but I'm curious because I was in an accident where the person even admitted guilt and I still had to pay my deductible.

I don't see why not, assuming it's accurate.

My concern with this would be the quality of the video the camera will record, especially low light quality. Also I've seen the video recording function on cell phones crash quite often when recording for longer periods of time.
