Mason sold his Invidia catted for $200.

I actually only got $100 plus he picked me up a couple parts from Calgary on his way. More interested in getting delivery on parts than cash at the time

I still have that one that was welded horrible laying around. I was going to post of for free to see if someone wanted to try and fix it proper or just send it.

I feel like you should hang that on your wall as a museum piece.  I mean, stuff like that needs to be seen.  Maybe donate it to SAIT or something.  Give their students something to strive away from.

But in practical terms, do it Gabe.

Alternatively..........  You could have Ekai tune it.  His car was NA with over 300k and he boosted/tuned it himself.  His only flaw was he broke his leg and in his words, became fat and homeless and never raced with us again.

Get a downpipe bro. It's night and day.

Alternatively...................  You could ring up RTP.  His car hasn't blown up yet.

Glowing review.

Get a downpipe. You can install it at my place.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Your place is closer than Canuckrz, that's true...you just like my cute personality.

In other news I stripped the peeling plasti-dip off my dash, WD-40 works like a hot damn. It turns the plasti-dip into a slimey goo that you can just wipe off after it bubbles. Going to paint-paint it now (neo-chrome)

I wondered why I didn't see centre air vents in your car...

My Plasti-dip has held up beautifully for ~5 years, maybe more. I gave it a light sand and then hit it with a tack cloth. At the end of the day ANYTHING is better than that stock, scratch prone silver.

Hahaha yeah. I think part of the reason I didn't get good adhesion was I sprayed it against cold plastic with minimal surface prep.

Pro tip:
Turn the vent so you can fit your fingers inside and pull, after you've wedged the card between. Worked better form the bottom than the top.

Thanks RednWhite for scoring me a downpipe. Looks good. I actually forgot the second cat has a 2 bolt flange on it in the middle of the DP> But those look crusty on both the used DP and original DP.

Thoughts? Try that first?

SEM colour coat is not hard wearing at all. Light nicks will scratch, and I'm especially peeved because I prepped by scuffing, sanding, soapy water, and adhesion promotor.

Still didn't stick. So now I have this nice black base coat that I'm going to Plasti-Dip, once again.

GG.

Hydro dip it.
Or wrap it in faux-cf. That was one of my favorite mods I had done, regardless of how ricey some may think it is.

Duplicolour trim paint buddy. It's designed for exterior trim, so it holds up amazing. I used it on my dash on my WRX and it held up great for 3+ years without scratching and what I used on the lower dash of Coral. It's UV resistant, bonds to almost everything, builds up nicely, and coats really evenly too.

I'd do what Jukka said.  Wrapping that center piece piece is painful, and you can end up with bad cuts or bubbles if not done right.  Also, what DP?  OEM?

Hydrodip is amazing if only for the many, many tasteless patterns you could use. Houndstooth. Paisley.

But like...that big, awful gaudy big pixeled houndstooth:

OEM downpipe jellynuts, install date TBD.
Last night I got my Defi oil pressure sender from Japan. Even with the typhoon, it left Osaka on the 7th. Japan, you're awesome.

It was also cheaper than RallySportDirect too! RHDJapan, props, props. Onto some pictures, some from Friday where Canuckrz and I installed the oil-temp sensor (thanks again for the help Canuckrz) and some from last night.

Start by pulling off the IC and BPV and expect to swear; but don't because you don't have a gigantic STi intercooler shoved in your engine bay like Dan does...
Gross throttle body. Cleaned up as best as possible. Same with the intercooler.

Old galley plug, 8mm hex. Canuckrz boilermaker strength. Replace this plug with 11024AA210 and the washer 03701820 which has a 1/8 BSPT fitting:

So much stuff to remove to get the sensor in...

She's in, where's waldo down underneath. You can see it, I promise lol:

Onto the oil pressure sensor, it gets installed where the stock oil pressure switch is underneath the alternator. Good time to change your A/C idler pulley, mine was getting skateboard-y.

New pressure sensor, yellow teflon'd for maximum petrochemical resistance

Turns out the one I had in before that didn't work - it was a GReddy branded one. Probably not compatible with the Defi-Link system (ah the joys of mad-tyte JDM things from the early 2000s). (thanks again Canuckrz for your crowfoot wrenches, convinced me to buy my own set)

A lesson: Don't reef them in too tight. They don't need it. The fittings are tapered if you have 1/8 BSPT (or 1/8PT) so they should self seal. It'll start to bind up and that's when I backed off.

Inb4 electrician jokes:

In this pic you can see where Dan and I hid the boost sensor. The mount had an M6 mounting hole, so it's almost invisible! We tee'd off the BPV line for the sensor.

I also learned that if you disconnect the clock; the instrument panel airbag light illuminates (because the clock has the passenger airbag icons). Solution? Keep the clock:

Finished! JDM STi Genome Gauges.

Once again with the help of Canookerz.

Interesting tidbits (point form)
- My heatshield was holding it together.
- It's been leaking for a while.
- We drilled bigger holes in the DP>MP flange. (M10x1.25x50mm)
- Air Shim: Awesome. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LRP64AG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_bmZNBb4W40SPY
- Minor leak witness mark on turbo > DP gasket
- Gabe is happy
- Different heatshield rattle. Much quieter. Meh.

Huh, OEM downpipe was totally broken off at the cat.  Only held together by the heatshields.

*snip*

Holy itshay Grant. Did you leave the downpipe on until you did your clutch in 2016??! Granted mine's probably been leaking for a year or more...
I don't remember specifically feeling my hand along there when I installed the MadDad. Hah. I was probably too excited about the rumble that was unleashed.

It definitely sounds better now with that exhaust pressure going where it needs to go.

Yup.

And concur, proper exhaust sounds better than a seperated DP worth of exhaust leak.
