RB93 and I drove the WRX on Sept. 16 autoX.  RB93 was 6th fastest in RAW in the morning session. It was wet and cold, and he beat some properly fast drivers...AWD was good to have that day.

You got to show me what my car was capable of Cole, thank you for showing me!!

72  No  No              SM Cole M           2007 WRX
Day 1 Set 1  48.430      46.864+1   (45.979)     46.082

And for reference, someone who is just stupid fast...

In other news, I replaced my fuel filter. Car seems to pull smoother. Bled the brakes as well after a good 2 years of abuse, pedal is nice and firm again.

My right front wheel bearing started growling back at me in July. RF axle was leaking at the CV for the last two years as well. Same goes for the RR axle.
Replaced those three things and I now have a less aggressive alignment for winter.

That day the snow dumped at the beginning of the month:

Also that same day - I came home to discover my lip probably plowed most of Barlow Trail. You're welcome CoC. Removed it the next day. (Also it's super disconcerting to hear the snow and slush brush under the sills on the side.)

And now it's warm again. :/

Rolled over 200,000 km over the holiday break.

I also picked up a Cobb turbo heat shield over the break. I gotta figure out how to origami it into place (maybe from the bottom!?) because I'm too
lazy to pull the IC off. I tried to origami it from the top but it hits the IC and the AC line.

My Whiteline Com-C top hats are creaking, gg Asstuna for calling this out. Never doubt the old Aussie. Rear end links are clunking, the bushings are hogged out and
need to be tightened almost weekly and then it starts clunking again.

The back end gets wiggly if I brake hard from 100km/h down to 40km/h. Not sure if it's tires, alignment, or tire pressures, but damn. In the dry, pretty funny. And it'll rotate really, really nice and subtle if I lift the throttle the slightest hair. So much fun still to drive this thing.

Still gets decent mileage, recently did a trip to Sunshine to shred some pow and I saw 8.6L/100km. Not bad for winter tires, cold temps and basically trying not to impede people doing 130+

I love the fog covers.

It's not that much work to take the IC off.  It'll save you so much frustration for the heat shield.

Possible warped rotor(s)? I replaced my front ones a few months back because the front ones were making my steering wheel vibrate aggressively braking at high speeds

I don’t know that the STi wagons ever had roof rails to begin with, but I agree. Sleek = sexy.  ;)

I don't feel any vibrations through the wheel...I think it's the combination of a loose sway bar end link that's causing one wheel unload a little less than to one side causing
it to yaw when the weight transfers forward.

My Impreza 2.5i did it on the snow, albeit at lower speeds.

I like the rails on the USDM models. Feels like something is missing from the top without them...

Could also be a loose bushing in the rear suspension that put your dynamic toe or camber curve out.

My forester acts funky in the rear coming on and off the throttle.  I believe that I narrowed it down the the diff carrier bushings.

First autocross at a new venue in the WRX this past Saturday. Since I was helping Cagare with gate access and other logistics during the day I didn't quite have the time to properly set up the car. Endlinks were
loose and clunky, tire pressures weren't set exactly. Thanks jellynuts for letting me use your sprayer. And thanks RTP for letting me use your tire pressure gauge in the morning.

I had a blast. The course was fun and very technical. I'm proud to say I've achieved my goal of top half in RAW time.

27th in a field of 60. But the biggest thing was having 05LGT co-drive the car with me.

Overall ranking by raw time:

I matched my car number! hahaha! But this is a good sign. Two takeaways. The car (with WSC's help) built is fast. Second, I have lots to improve on. Yes, that's a GT3. And it was on Hoosiers. I learned lots from 05LGT too.

Fricking 05LGT lol

Welcome to summer everyone.

My Duramax with 8500lbs behind it has more inspiring brakes than your car but thanks for the use of the car, I appreciate it.

Fix yer brakes and I bet it’s worth another half second.

I forgot to mention. Last Thursday I took out the pads to lube and clean the shims, lube the pins, etc. I remembered cleaning the grease off the rotor face.

Without a good bedding before autoX, on 05LGT's run, when he went to brake we went a lot further than he expected (we saw grass, lol). It got better throughout the day but
I've always felt the pedal lacked the sort of firm re-assurance when braking hard. New fluid has helped but I think some stainless lines are in order. Maybe 5x100 Brembos? New MC? MC brace?

The master cylinder brace didn't do anything for me other than making the brakes feel firmer (it was a little annoying to install on my 06 wagon but it's still "beer and two hours"). How thorough was your bleed?

VEX was the one that did it last October. Power bleed, I think. I didn't bleed on Thursday, just pulled pads and re-installed em.

Quasi-pro-tip that's not working this time for some reason, if you add a tt and /tt code to your charts, they generally line up better.

I tried Endless SSY pads, and IMO they are overpriced trash. I could stand on the pedal and ABS wouldn't intervene. I think they were actually worse than the $20 Raybestos ceramics they replaced.

Swapped to EBC Yellowstuffs, and they actually work. Still nowhere near STI Brembos, but at least they feel safe.

Just food for thought.
