They're taking our jobs (cars)!
« on: February 05, 2016, 09:35:41 AM »
So this came up on reddit, dude from the USA flew up to Calgary and drove this bad boy home:
https://www.reddit.com/r/subaru/comments/4482t4/i_flew_to_canada_and_drove_16_hours_back_to_get/

Who's car was this? Looks amazing for the amount of mods and for our harsh weather.

I mean the car's only been for sale since early Oct with nothing but tire kickers and low ballers, but now that it's sold, it's all "Wow, such an amazing car, and it left us".

That kind of pisses me off. You don't appreciate a good thing until it's gone?

Anyways, why is this in the meets section?

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Noice. Grats on the sale, I think we might see more Americans coming up and buying cars here since 1) Many of us can no longer afford new cars 2) Our dollar sucks.

I never personally saw this car for sale so it somehow slipped under my radar (not that I could have bought it anyway) grats on the sale.

Delete this thread if this isn't the right place. LDS angry.

I sold my Tacoma to a exporter for $3500 more then I paid...
I don't name things I know I'm going to sell eventually. Hence why I'd never name any kids I had.

Sorry, just frustrated at how things are only appreciated after they're gone.

But you can appreciate a car and not be interested in buying it, no?
I think it's a gorgeous car and appreciated the work that was put into it but, even though I'm in the market for a new car, I wasn't interested in buying it.

It just feels like he's complaining that it's been taken away from us, when no one showed interest in keeping it here.

Fair enough.
It is concerning for those in the market for a car though because it keeps the prices inflated since Americans can come up here and get a steal of a deal due to the USD when it's above market value at CAD prices.

I did read in that post that they can't import newer than '07 though.

I read that as well, but he was taking a US spec car back to the US anyways.

So he really isn't taking our cars, he's taking their cars back.

I opened that ad many times, and drooled over it each time. Gorgeous, and everything I wished my old 07 WRX would be. Congrats on the sale, WSC members had more than enough time to scoop this badboy up.

Most of the vehicles that are being sold up here are selling for the same dollar value, just in USD.

Eg, truck with 100k km is being sold for 30k CAD, and a truck with similar mileage is being sold for 30k USD. So the owners are saving like 10k CAD on a vehicle purchase.
