I feel bad for Ricciardo, but that was an entertaining race.

That really was an exciting race! I didn't expect Red Bull to be that quick this year. They must have one hell of a chassis package.

Yeah, the chassis makes up for the engine power deficit - they fare better on medium / high downforce tracks I find.

They have little trouble driving in traffic (i.e. following closely behind and not losing front downforce, or losing some but not being affected so greatly) whereas Lewis had trouble with passing in later stages of the race. Season's hotting up. Going to be good heading into the European calendar.

I was watching the Sky Sports feed on TSN...did you guys see the commentary after the Champagne?  They cut out right after the champagne scene.  I would have liked to hear how Seb and Danyil hashed that out in front of everyone.  Awesome race though.  Every time Nico and Hamilton qualify P1 and P2, they should make whoever got P2 move to P22 just to shake things up.  That would make every race crazy! JK.

I suspect Vettel will rethink his position when he gets see to the replay for himself.
There's not a driver on the grid that wouldn't have gone into that opening.

Uhhh.. who qualified P2? It was Ricciardo I thought... the same guy who got the hole shot.

I think he means *IF* Merc goes P1 and P2 in quali, they move the second car to the back and have him fight through the field.

The more I watched the replay, the more I think Vettel was right, although he did kind of drag it out. Both him and Kimi were on the racing line while the speed that Kvyat was carrying took him directly across that racing line. If Vettel hadn't reacted the way he did it would have been a repeat of the previous race where Bottas came into Hamilton. And in that case Bottas got the penalty. So I think if Vettel would have held the line there is a good chance Kvyat would have gotten a penalty.

Looks like Seb was driving into a wedge and had to do something. On the other hand, Kvyat was going too fast to make the apex and understeered past it anyhow. It might have been a bit optimistic on his part, but fortune favours the bold, as they say.

I feel like he got the seat at redbull too soon. It seems like he needs to do some growing up. There is driving aggressively, like Hamilton, then there is whatever Kvyat is doing.

Seriously, what needs to be done to deserve a race ban?

Besides that both mercs said they had minor problems. I didn't see if Kimi mentioned any problems with his new power unit.

I think it's safe to say Mercedes will win this year but I still want to see Ferrari push for some wins.

I think Kvyat and Verstappen should swap seats immediately. Verstappen's not all that mature either, but he's fast and doesn't crash as much even when he's driving really aggressively, so give him a shot against Ricciardo.

Meh, it's nothing amazing. The usual finishers in about the usual spots.

I think the first 5 laps were worth watching, and then it was pretty boring, but there was some good racing in the 7-13 positions.

Yah, first lap was good but the rest was pretty boring. Sochi doesn't seem to have great passing opportunities so it usually ends up being a boring race. Spain should be better, then the usual parade at Monaco then another good one in Montreal.

Holy itshay. Didn't really expect that to happen so quickly. Haha. Should be really interesting to see what Max can do in the new drive.

New lineup for Spain | Red Bull Racing Formula One Team
http://www.redbullracing.com/article/new-line-spain

Really bold choice on Red bull's part. I suspect this is more down to the fact that Red bull has been pushing the pace of Verstappen's development to the limit. By appealing to the teams and drivers calling for something to be done about Kvyat's "mistakes" they look to be taking disciplinary measures but are really taking the opportunity to advance Max even sooner.

They now know Verstappen can produce results, he handled the pressure already placed on him well. Make no mistake this teams strategy plays are second to none. They couldn't take the chance of moving him into the top team immediately and suffer the potential consequences. Points loss, funding, on track testing, and a lack of experienced driver feedback during a critical development stage could have all suffered if Max proved to not be ready.

My prediction for Spain?

Max will qualify well... 3rd row start (possible 2nd) but unfortunately will not complete the first lap.  :(
The World Champions on the starting grid will not make his rise easy.

I agree as well.  The writing was on the wall for this already, and Danyil's moves in China and Sochi were just the icing on the cake.  He probably made those bold mistakes in an effort to delay the inevitable.  I hope Max achieves the "Max"imum amount of success possible in that car.  I don't see him winning a lot of races because of the equipment, but he should do well.

One of my kid's cousin is named Max and races in Formula Renault in Asia.  I got excited but it's not the same Max :(

I haven't been following as much as I'd like, but I watched Kyvat's two bumps to Vettel's rear.  I wondered before he apologized what his excuse would be.  "I was racing!"

Unreal.
