What colour did you order your C8 in?
I don't name things I know I'm going to sell eventually. Hence why I'd never name any kids I had.

I'd love one in yellow so we could carry over the name Wasp. I think it will also be the color of their GTLM race cars. The white without the rear aero package looks REALLY nice and clean.

I am holding out to see where the used price goes in 3-5 years when the first batch of buyers sell their cars for Z06/ZR1/GS when they come out. Ideally, I would want Z51, PDR, and the rest of the options list to make the car as light as a base car. BUT... I would also like to see what the GS is like and if it's worth waiting/saving for.

That CoG comment around the driver makes me wonder what the F/R weight % is now that it's an MR layout.

I've read somewhere it's 40/60. According to the "there's only one way to find out" guy from Motor Trend, the top of the valve covers is lower than the top of the rear 20" rims. Let that sink in...

All of the specs look great, but this one is so clever.
Any word on whether the C8 will use the magnetic shocks too? I wonder if that could also be tied to GPS to put it in like comfort mode on poor sections of road haha.

It does have mag ride. You might be thinking about that GPS operated shock tuning feature on a Koenigsegg. Shock tuning is optimized for every corner of your local track.

Missed out on ASA's lapping event (sorry 10SD) on Sunday. I took C5's stablemate to Waiporous Valley Trail instead. The adventure was well worth the effort.

mmexport1563767773308

On C5 related news... Since the front subframe had to be lowered for engine removal, I had to align the car again. Current spec is front -2.5 0 toe, and rear -1.3 and 3mm toe in. These cars have a tendency to be a little unstable under heavy braking caused by rear dynamic toe changes. I hope this little bit of extra toe in will tame the car under braking and also accelerating out of corners. First track day of 2019 is Saturday July 27.

Attended the first track day with a private club this weekend. The car hooked up and drove really well. The smaller 5.7L engine is a little less intimidating than the 6.8L stroker it replaced. I find myself reving out the engine and WOT a bit more. Unfortunately, I only had one dry session running the standard layout (the morning was reversed layout), and my lap timer didn't work. So there is no lap time to compare to the previous year's. Thanks to Spec R, the new RS4 tires were impressive.

The car saw about 2.5-3 hours of total track time, approximately 1.5 hr of that was one long stint in the rain. Throughout the day, oil temp hit 142C, coolant temp stayed under 110C, no brake fade, and the tires were VERY consistent. That is pretty impressive. There are still some minor issues with the tune, but I should be able to sort them out within the week.

Ratty vette survived another track day! Probably the hottest track day I've had, with the ambient temp around 27-28C. I did not come close to my PB, but I sure learnt a lot. Kyle@SpecR spent a session with me and showed me how to approach the tires' limit and become comfortable pushing the car a bit. The new-to-me engine is running great and pulling smooth. The powerband really starts to come on from about 3000 RPM, I think this makes it easier to drive. I no longer feel the huge torque kick is going to unsettle the car.

Also, this was my first time running in the red group. I am happy to report that I did not completely embarrass myself. I also want to tell you (if you don't already know yet) that, the latest generation of GT3RS is pretty damn fast.

Oh, did I ever mention the Hankook RS4's are great on the track? Their "..consistency is very consistent" - Michael Goldberg.

Well... I can't consistently hit every apex yet, but I hit 302F transmission oil temp repeatedly today. Gotta add a cooler and a pump so I don't join JBTC (James Broken Tranny Club).

In better news, new PB 1:30.7. Still slow AF, but at least there's some improvement.

My car came with a built trans and hasn’t had any issues other than realigning the shift linkage so you’re in your own club there bud :P

As some of you already know, I was involved in a little accident last weekend. The damage was pretty limited to the passenger side headlight area. Looks like I will need a new headlight, headlight bracket, hood, and quite possibly a fender. It honestly does not look too bad, I am fairly hopeful that it will be repaired. The fate of the car will be confirmed by an appraiser mid next week.

But I have a track day tomorrow. So....

I think it's safe to say that I've got my money's worth. One set of pads for two full seasons worth of abuse. I have to count the hours, but I estimate there are easily 20-30 hours of track use on them, and some street miles when I was too lazy to swap pads.

I know it's not much, but I finally achieved the goal I set for myself when I bought this car.

The pursuit of 1:25 begins now. A long list of things is coming for the offseason, and it might just include something a little exciting.

My good buddy Jack just got an upgrade! I was lucky to score a steal of a deal on a used set of Quickjack 3500. I highly recommend it if you do a lot of work around the garage.
