Having thumbs up button for comments

Is it possible to get thumbs up button? it would be easier than people commenting " ^+1"

Add mods to the forum 99% of the time does not end well.  I think the last time they tried to add something it blew up not long after.

Or, you could use the "notify" button if all you want is to get updates about that thread.

Or, you could post when you actually have something to add to the conversation?  Not just a 👍, or "+1" which might stroke ego's but doesn't help add anything IMHO.

It's a car forum not a court room lol. Adding something to the conversation shouldn't be the only time to post. I don't see anything wrong with giving someone compliments on their car or saying you like their new mod.

The example i was thinking of where a thumbs up button would be helpful is when someone asks a question in the technical section and only one person replies. The person who started the thread might wonder if that's the right answer or if it's wrong and other people just don't feel like commenting/forgot to reply. With the button people who agree with the reply can gave it a quick thumbs up and it would give that comment more credibility. This would also be helpful if there's multiple replies.

I think that would cause more problems than it's worth. I really hope people don't use the number of thumbs ups a comment gets as some kind quantitative metric of veracity.

SMF is extremely unforgiving with addon modules, and we've almost entirely decided that none will be added unless they're common enough to be proven not to crash the entire forum on upgrades.
Even the youtube embed module has caused problems.

I'm sure we'd all like every feature, but the likely answer here is "Thanks, we appreciate your suggestion. At this time, the relatively small mod team has enough to do on WSC and SMF add ons have caused problems in the past."

Huh, that's a way more in depth comment than I expected.

I was sure it was going to be:

Or like /r/Calgary, where every post gets 2 immediate downvotes.

I'd take moons. I could always use extra income. Or BAT.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.
