Could it be confiscated under something along the lines of probable cause however?

Can't warrants be granted on the ground of withholding evidence?

If you can convince a judge, sure.

"Yeah, I think he was speeding, but I can't find his memory card, can you sign this so I can search his house?"
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

I specifically get the non-gps version, I don't find it relevant to know the speed or direction; I have a GPS for that..  I care that the red car with license plate xxx in front or behind me hit me or someone else; it's cheaper too.

I think as long as they show probable cause it will probably be issued.

I can say with absolute certainty that no warrant to search a residence is going to be issued for a speeding ticket. I'm not going to go into the specifics of warrant writing and the process, but I'm going to state for a fact that if you own a dash cam, your house isn't going to be searched with a warrant for a memory card for speeding.

Now, if a dash cam captures a severe criminal offence and there's all sorts of proof that the memory card is indeed in the house? Now that's different.

Probably cause is also not the criteria for a search warrant.

Not to come across as standoffish, just trying to convey that big brother isn't watching you through your dashcam when you're speeding.

For those looking for a decent and somewhat inexpensive dash camera might want to consider the Thinkware F50. It is recently released and looks to perform decently. I just purchased one and will let you know my thoughts on it once I have used it for a bit.

I got it on sale at London Drugs.

Haven't watched the first review video yet but the second video looks pretty good!

As an update, I went with your suggestion of the Mini 0805 from GearBest. I've used it a few times just plugged into the cigarette lighter and I'm liking it so far. I have the hardwire kit but I've been too lazy to do it. One of these days...

I was looking at some of the other thinkware's as they were sold at best buy. To me they seemed to just be rebranded blackvue units or perhaps knock offs so I just went straight to the blackvue. This one looks a bit different.

Interesting thing about dash cams, if you're caught speeding or anything like that and police see that you have a dash cam they can request your memory card.
If no memory card is found/provided, they have a right to search you, your car, and even your house for it.

Bumping an old thread here, but I rarely check this subthread.

Anyway, this is the reason I stopped looking into a dash cam. I didn't do further research into it, but I didn't want to have evidence of speeding or what not so I stopped looking into a cam.

Why are people concerned about that? I think the benefits of a dash cam outweigh the paranoid fears about the cops kickig down your door to get your memory card.

Recently, I've noticed that people who park / drive like shole-says tend to have dash cams. New trend?

People who drive and park like sholeasays, tend to be the ones who complain about how bad everyone else drives.

I'm sure they got it to show how stupid all the "other" drivers are.
