Need an audio guru to meet with.
« on: August 15, 2016, 04:54:06 pm »
I'd like for an audio guru to take a look at a sound system from a car bought to determining a couple issues that I've noticed it has, in exchange for your time there will of course be a case of beer :). Thanks in advance!

Brief description of issues?

Thanks,

Guru.

My rear speakers sometimes 'pops' and turns off when I'm listening to music as well as my sub woofer stays on even when the volume is all the way down.

Aftermarket or OEM speakers and head unit?
Brands and other relevant information?

What do you mean sub stays on? It makes a sound when volume is completely down? Or just on?

OEM, the previous owner invested some serious coin a couple years back. Aftermarket clarion head unit, as well as speakers. By it stays on I mean that as soon as the radio is on even if the volume is at 0 you can hear a noticeable rumble coming from the trunk (sub).

The first thing to do would be check your amp settings to see its set too high.
Not sure if your speakers are powered by the amp too?
Next thing to check would be grounding....

Did you have these issues when you bought the car or did they develop?

Sounds like as soon as the remote signal flips on, the sub is on, which is normal, but the gain on the amp may be cranked, with the output on the deck turned way down.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

That's the thing though, all this started happening when I removed my rear seats where all the wiring is under. I went to see if anything was disconnected, but couldn't find a thing.

Check the remote wire. Make sure it's not bridging with the power wire.

I'll do that, would that also explain why the rear speaker pops and then turns off?

If they're running off an amp? Yes. If they're wired straight into the deck, I'd look for shorts, or else your deck is potentially on the way out.

Thanks a lot man, I'll do some more troubleshooting.
