Scratched Double DIN
« on: September 27, 2016, 06:47:31 pm »
Hi guys,

Accidentally scratched my head unit the other day, got quoted 300 dollars to replace the screen. I've tried Vaseline, polish, and placing a screen protector on top to no avail. Is there anything else that I could try? Thanks a bunch

clear nail polish?

This is just one of those mistakes you either live with, or pay a lot of money to fix.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

If it's not a touch screen you might be able to take it apart and replace the cover, unless it's bonded into the LCD.

Probably have to make your own replacement cover unless you can find another one of the same head unit that's broken on eBay or something though.

edit: Nope it's a touchscreen. You might get lucky taking it apart and being able to find the part number of whatever LCD panel that Pioneer sourced to make the stereo but I'd be very very surprised :(
