I wonder if the bottling process for Banff Air is legit, or if it's like China boiling human hair and then exporting that as soy sauce.

wtf
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

This thread took a turn that I genuinely did not expect it to.

Besides, human hair probably costs more than soy sauce since more labour is involved on the barber's side and/or to sweep up that hair if they're just reselling cuts.

Hah, cute. It's funny that you think they take the hair from living people. Willingly.

SSS had the right idea.  They sourced hair from chop shops (ie. barber shops).  The real question is, are people willing to eat hair sauce?

Two winters' worth of road grime and "rail dust".  Took 3 days to clay bar 4 doors as I only had 30-60 minutes of spare time (and patience) per day for this stuff.

Gain 50 ft-lbs, ask me how! :-)

Time to use IronX next time around and cut the claying time in half.

Noticed recently that the car seemed to have lost some pep, followed by CEL for "under boost" after going full throttle.  Thought maybe it was boost solenoid/hoses but wasn't.  Was about to remove downpipe to check for clogged catalytic converter when I wiggled the wastegate flapper.  Let's just say the flapper is trying out new positions that weren't possible before.  Engine sound is from another car running in the background.

The results of the clay bar are impressive.

Prior to the 2 winters any PPF or ceramic coating?

No idea if the previous owner did any ceramic coating.  The hood and front fenders do have PPF applied.

From bad to worse.

Spent hours swapping in the re-man turbo on Friday afternoon.  Get "done" at 7:30pm, fired it up to check for leaks and after a few minutes of idling, oil started to drip from the airbox drain hole.  Turns out the turbo was puking oil out of the compressor inlet and filling up the airbox with oil.

Sorry about the car, hopefully you're able to fix it sooner rather than later.

Ngl, I tried clicking the play button multiple times before I realized it was just a photo..

Did the turbo fail because the wastegate flapper broke?

I am assuming the re-manufactured turbo has some sort of warranty. The continued downtime sucks but hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Ohhh, doesn’t look good. I think I’ve seen a similar issue somewhere before:

The replacement turbo was DOA, puking oil after I installed it.

So, I took the two broken turbos and made a working one by taking the turbine housing of the re-man turbo and bolting that to my turbo with the busted flapper door pivot.  During that process I noticed the re-man turbo was also missing a gasket between the turbine housing and the CHRA.  Unrelated to the oil leak but more of an indication of the level of care taken during the rebuild process.
