NHL 16-17 Thread
« on: October 14, 2016, 09:10:19 am »
I notice there isn't a lot of hockey talk on this board, which is odd being that we're in Canada and all. Do we have many hockey fans on here? I tend to be on my own in being a Flyers fan, but Calgary has always been my West/Canadian team, even when I live in Ontario.

If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

I'm super excited to see Auston Matthews have some sort of record breaking rookie year and the Leafs still miss the playoffs. Happy 50th anniversary you uckfayers!

Sincerely,
Habs fan.

What an honor. Our group has the only known Devils fan in existence LMAO.

Matthews breaking records and them not making the playoffs would be hilarious.

Eeeww, bandwagon jumper  :P. I hate the hawks, the one year Philly is bad enough to get the first pick, and the lost the damn lottery. Hawks get Kane, we get JVR. Gross.

Proud member since 1991 when they picked up Richer from Montreal...it's been a long, hard road but at least i can brag about a few cups during that run.

Big hockey fan. Oilers have always been my team.

Predicting that they squeak into a wild card spot for the playoffs this year. We will not set the record for longest time since making the playoffs.

Unless McDavid turns into a 120pt player, I highly doubt it.  They traded away all of their RW depth. Puljunarvi is not NHL ready and they're now running Kassian on the 2nd line yet they traded Yakupov and let Versteeg slip away.  If that depth is addressed and they get a decent 3rd pair PMD, I could see them challenging for a wildcard spot.

LOL @bandwagon jumper. Don't even. I've been a Hawks fan since before you were born. I have ALWAYS cheered for the Hawks. Since the early 90's bud. The Roenick, Chelios, Belfour days.

Plus, you're a Flyers fan, what do you even know about hockey?

Yeah, Matthews being awesome and Toronto still not making it would be sweet. Just like when McJesus showed up in Edmonton and they still itshay the bed...

Crack is whack, Oilers suck. They're not going anywhere.

I have my hopes. Although he won't be at 120, I see Mcdavid pushing for the Art Ross this year. Hopefully Ebs and Luc help him out with that.

I agree with Puljujarvi not being fully NHL ready yet, but i'll wait to see what he can do in the next handful of games to see how I rate him. He did have a weak camp, but I think he can step up to the plate.

The yak trade was pretty bad, but it just shows how much he was worth. The guy just never produced here in Edmonton, played little D, and Eakins never really helped him. I hope he lights it up in St. Louis, and shows the hockey world that he can be a decent player.

Versteeg wanted top six minutes, and we couldn't guarantee that to him. Hence why he signed with Calgary. Not really upset with that.

The Russel pick up was pretty good. I personally didn't know how much/if he would affect the team a lot, but if he can keep playing the way he did last game, and make similar plays to last game, I see him being super valuable to us.

Crack is whack, Oilers suck. They're not going anywhere.

If we can stay healthy (LOL @ Davidson already), we can get somewhere. We definitely need to improve in some areas though... Some of those giveaways and PP's last game were absolutely awful.

I also would REALLY like to see Reinhart finally make that jump this year, although I am slightly skeptical at this point.

Just bustin' your balls, figured you'd been behind them for some time. Although not sure what the Flyers comment is getting at.

Hey Markkas, did Nurse make the team? I wanted him that year but as usually, EDM had a higher pick and took him.

No fantasy league. I know we had a playoff pool a year or two ago though.

Here's a quick read on Yak in STL. I feel for the guy...

Sounds the the start of a Players Tribune article.
