Topic: 09 forester XT blown engine

Hi peeps,

So my brother's coworker's 09 FXT's engine blew, he went to a subaru dealership and they wanted $9k for a replacement engine. He moved on bought another vehicle and gave the FXT to my brother. So question. Where do we get it's engine rebuilt? Or anyone knows someone who's selling a replacement engine? Or is ej257 swap a cheaper route? Thanks in advance!

Yeah i think i might be the same car. I just don't know how they found out they need a long block for it. Would a jdm engine be a viable replacement? My brother just want it running, he even tought about getting the non turbo ej25.

It would likely cost you more to do an engine swap, then just buying a non-turbo 09 Forester.
