« on: December 15, 2016, 07:38:56 pm »
Hey Team,

I've got a pair of Anon M3's and they fog pretty seriously when Im skiing.

Wondering if anyone's got any tips/tricks or solutions that they've found works well?

Heading to Revelstoke tomorrow, and Im assuming it's gonna happen again.

Thanks!

try using some anti fog spray on it.. or just rub some dish soap on the inside.

I haven't tried this but you could tape a silica desiccant pack to the brow line, bet that itshay would be fantastic.

Are you a sweater like me?

Keep them off your face unless you're moving. Make sure your head gear isn't blocking the vents.

Airflow helps. If my chin is in my jacket, I fog. If my hood is up and blocking for all the steeeez, fog. I stopped wearing a balaclava cuz I fogged too much. I've been meaning to try one of those Airhole things...

Sure am. Ive read that putting them up on my helmet is real bad... the vents will just put heat right into them.

Do you wear a helmet with a brim? It might be restricting air flow coming in the lower vents to travel through and across the inside of the lens and out the top vents.

I've never used this on ski goggles (fair warning) but playing junior hockey we would all use lemon Pledge (http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/pledge-lemon-furniture-polish-350-g-0530358p.html) on our visors - it worked significantly better than antifog spray and smelled awesome as well!

Growing up skiing, I was always told rub a little bit of spit in them. Now I have no idea where this came from, but if you're in a real pinch you mine as well try. Quick Google search and this is what I found, seems to be mainly for swimming though: https://www.quora.com/Why-does-rubbing-a-bit-of-saliva-on-swimming-goggles-prevent-fogging-under-water

I have always had fogging issues with with my various spy and oakley goggles in the past.  I bought a pair of Electric eg3.5's last year and didnt have a single fogging issue. Buying a pair of those is my suggestion,  besides that they are the best goggles I have ever used.

I've been told the same thing for the same sports. Also a little shampoo on the inside has also been recommended from hockey - no idea if it actually works

Might be too obvious, but
-keep snow from covering the vents, including brushing it  off the whole top after a crash or overhead pow
-don't ever put them on your forehead
-stick a little less toque into the anti-gaper-overlap
-don't hike while wearing them.
-when your chins in your jacket on the chair lift, breathe through your nose.

If you follow these rules and you still get fog, sell em to a kid who thinks they look cool and buy some goggles that work

Whenever I go snorkeling "they" use a combination of baby shampoo and water to coat the inside of the goggles to prevent fogging.
Spray on, swirl around, dump out, and let dry. Don't touch. It worked well.

I know spit works for snorkeling goggles, not sure if that would carry over.

My old goggles fogged so I bought a new pair of Oakleys and they've been great. My biggest issue was putting them on the top of my head, which I don't do anymore. I take off my whole helmet if I'm warm and on the lift.

Whenever I go snorkeling, I have to keep cleaning the top vent on my smiths to keep them fog free. Sometimes I still have to take them off and whirl them around like a bola to get em to clear up.

It was in one of those cardboard cashier counter displays at some store somewhere in town. Damned if I can recall where.

Make sure the goggles are only touching your skin. They should not be sitting on top of a toque/facemask/balaclava. This can cause the goggles to not vent properly and result in moisture build-up.

My goggles never fog up (knock on wood). I keep them sealed on my face, meaning no toque under it, and don't put my nose/mouth into my jacket to stay warm while wearing them. I always put them up on the brim of my helmet after runs and on the gondola, and that is never an issue. They are Von Zipper goggles by the way, maybe they just have a good vent design, and it's not my behaviour 🤔

Jerry of the Day right there in that photo.

My goggles are Smith I/O, they are (or at least were) rated #1 on the market for anti-fog and I can contest to that. Never had a problem and I have 4 different lenses I swap out on a regular basis. If your M3's keep giving you issues do what darthekai suggested, sell them and get something new.

Ski faster. Do NOT, NOT use dish soap or any other product. Do NOT wipe the inside while they are wet, damp, or fogged. Good quality ski goggles have a film on the inside that gets soft when damp, absorbing the 'fog'. If you've wiped them, or god forbid, used soap and wiped them, they are ruined. Get new ones. Keep them off your face while hiking or skiing slow. Do not get the inside wet with snow or water.

If you fall while skiing I know some park skiers carry an extra pair inside their jacket and swap them out.
