Information and FAQ about Aquamist Water Methanol Injection:Do you winter drive your vehicle? Our pre-mixed VEX Performance Crystal Methanol is rated to be fully operational down to -51°C and maintains a non-flammable 51% distilled water and 49% methanol with no added dyes, detergents or ingredients that could clog jets.
Does your vehicle have a modern direct injected engine such as the 2015+ WRX, Mazdaspeed 3 or6, all modern turbo BMWs, or Ford Ecoboost engines? A very common problem with these engines is gunk / carbon build up on the intake valves because they no longer have fuel spraying onto the valves to keep them clean. This requires expensive walnut blasting to temporarily clean up the valves and ports again to resume similar power and drive ability to stock. Aquamist water methanol injection actually undoes previous build up, and both long term and short-term keeps your intake system extremely clean all with the benefit of more power and torque across the power band!
Are you planning any future upgrades like a larger turbo or supercharger? Aquamist is completely scalable and we can re-jet and retune the system to work perfectly with any future upgrades large or small.
Is Husky 94 or other high octane gas difficult or inconvenient for you to get? Aquamist significantly increases the octane of any fuel. If you have difficulties finding a Husky to fill up at we suggest tuning with Shell 91 as an alternative, it’s widely available across North America.
Is an Aquamist system difficult or expensive to maintain? You simply need to fill the water methanol reservoir and that’s it! Typically customers use less than 1 case (4 x 4L) of water Methanol per year in cars making 700+whp. We sell Crystal methanol for $35+GST per (4 x 4L) case!
What happens if I run out of water methanol or there is a problem with the system? Aquamist is the most advanced system on the market specifically because it monitors actual flow of fluid. If it detects too much or too little flow it will simply default to failsafe which is setup differently on each car but will set the car into a safe mode that will typically run reduced boost and be 100% safe to drive until you refill the system.
Is installation difficult? Installation is very technical and it’s recommended to have a professional shop with specific experience to install these kits as it needs to be perfect. Every car is different and it also depends on how and where we mount the reservoir and gauge. In General Installation is estimated at 10-14 hours of labor and about 1 hour less with the Howerton tank (see below). Please contact us if you have questions regarding your specific Year/make/model of car, or would like ideas / options for gauge mounting solutions.
Is Tuning required? Tuning is required when installing water methanol systems to properly take advantage of the increased cooling and fuel octane. Without tuning the car would run overly rich when injecting water methanol and no advantages would be present, and possible damage could occur. Typically, dyno tuning a OEM ECU or COBB Style setup runs between $600-800cad +GST depending on year/make/model and modifications. Vehicles with stand-alone ECUs may take longer with more advanced features like map switching.
How does Aquamist perform compared to other systems on the market?Aquamist is the only system on the market that runs at the maximum 160psi at all times, and controls the amount of water methanol injected with a high-speed valve that is very similar to how a fuel injector works. This allows instant response, perfect control and the best atomization in the industry. The systems offered also include everything needed to have all fail-safes fully active to prevent any engine damage in the event of running out of water methanol or a system problem.
How does Aquamist compare price wise with other options available? It is a common misconception that Aquamist is the most expensive kit on the market, when in fact it offers the best bang-for-buck value around when you add the safety options that are required to maintain reliability. We have attached a chart in US Dollars that compares the features, benefits and costs vs the other systems.
