I watched a 20 minute Youtube video on data by accident and ended up going over my data limit the other week. Fido charged me a ridiculous $28 just for that and refuses to take it off my plan despite it being a mistake :/ Live and learn, I guess but now i'm on the market for a new plan for sure.

This is one of the reasons why I'm with Koodo. With Koodo once you get to 100% of your data cap they will turn your data off automatically and send you a notice via text. On the notice you can reply if you want to continue using data or not.
I occasionally stream games on Twitch

Yep I got the text. They give two promo codes to share with whomever you wish. I’ve been with Koodo for nearly 9 years now and don’t regret it at all. My girlfriend who is on the same plan with Telus had her monthly charge raised to $70 a couple months back. Telus treating customers like that is why I left them in the first place.

Interested in sharing the code with me so that I can switch? 8)

Wondering if I should migrate to this if Koodo eventually starts offering it. I'm currently on the $60 10GB plan.

Saw that last night. It's a pretty big change of pace from one of the big three. It will be interesting to see how Telus and bell respond and if there will be any trickle down to the sub carriers. Right now I'm going to take the wait and see approach as I'm also still on the 10gb for 60 plan.

Telus is following suit.

https://www.telus.com/en/deals-and-bundles/10gb-plan?intcmp=tcom_hom_ban_10gb_5gbonus&linktype=home_hero_banner

The Terms and Conditions for this offer:

Available on Consumer accounts only. Available on select plans. Data may not be shared with any other subscriber. Plan is available for activations and renewals, not available for rate plan changes. Not stackable with any other code based offers. 5GB of bonus data will remain on subscriber line for 24 months so long as subscriber maintains eligibility.

Bell looks like they're only offering it temporarily, Telus sounds the same but they could just be referring to the 5gb of bonus data.

It doesn't seem that much more appealing than the 10gb/$60 to me, but that could be based on my personal data usage I suppose.

Before moving in, my old roommate did not have an internet package and would instead hotspot his phone using upwards of 350gb/mo. His plan did not reduce speeds, it was unlimited, and iirc it maxed out at $65/mo only if you were to able maximize everything (including roaming, long distance calls, etc.).

Ahhh, to be a Gov't of AB employee. Or not. He wasn't any longer. In fact he hadn't been for over 4 years at that point...

That was similar for local governments in Ontario. We basically capped at $65 for data and could not be charged for any more than that, only thing you got hit for was long distance or roaming costs. But that's for the work device, they didn't not offer that plan to employees for private accounts.

From the people I've talked to, nobody says a thing unless you eclipse 100 GB on our work phones. I'm sure I'll never come close, but I was happy to hear that because my in-laws just built a new cabin but aren't getting internet there. Now I'll just hot spot my work phone and everyone has internet.

Renewed my plan with Bell. Chose to go with the $95/month at 15 GB full speed data rather than the 10 GB then lower speeds after that. Paying $20 a month more from my old 6GB data plan I got when I originally got a iPhone 5 in 2012.
