I actually did something on this car recently. I'm as shocked as anyone!
With the nice weather this past weekend, I managed to get 2 hours to work on the car and the garage. I spent probably an hour and a half working on the garage getting it cleaned up from the lack of attention I've given it in the last 6 months.
But then it came time for the car. First thing I did was finally got around to cutting the seat rails off the stock passenger side seat so I can start fabricating the rail for the passenger side Recaro seat I've had sitting on my tire rack for the last year. Came apart nicely and is sitting waiting for me to break out the welder and start fabricating. I also think I'm going to try and modify the brackets from my Supra seats and put them in as well as a more comfortable cruiser seat option. Since I have them and since it'll be fairly easy to do as well, why not?
I also got around to fully bolting on the GL front end. I had the headlights in place for months, but the marker lamps/surrounds were just loosely put in into place. I needed to replace the plastic screw clips to hold them in place before I could bolt them up fully. So I got around to doing that, and popped the grill in. I also decided to do a mock up of my front lip (it's a MK1 GTI front lip), so I held it in place with a couple zip ties. I'm gonna have to make some brackets once I get it ready for actual installation.
I think it looks great, but I still have to figure out if I want to run without a badge, or with the TOYOTA badge
I'll need to restore/modify the badge if I want to retain it as its originally designed for the North American spec grill.
I also had a chance to start pulling the wiring harness out of my factory rotted hatch lid in preparation to remove it. I'm hoping to take care of that sometime this week so I can pull the glass, seal, and wiper motor out of it and take the old shell to the dump when I go to throw out my old washing machine. The new hatch is going to get some epoxy paint applied to the seams to keep rust from forming, then it'll get installed. Then, onto the floor patch, sealing the front frame rails, install suspension and get the front end back down on the ground.
