Actually found a picture of how I'm going to be doing my AFR gauge and how I was originally going to mount the Defi Controller.

Came home to some new parts yesterday.

Techno Toy Tuning Delrin shifter bushing kit (which is a lot smaller than I was expecting), billet injector plugs and a giant assay sticker..lol

These injector plugs are really really nice. Super light weight, have the o-rings already installed on them. I did a quick test fit on the head and they are a perfect fit. What I like about them is that they are easily removable once installed, so if I decide to go back to fuel injection at some point, I can run injectors again. The other option for doing injector block offs is running small frost plugs, which is cheaper, but they gaul up the aluminum of the head and can cause damage during installation and removal.

I figured something out over the weekend, which is going to make my life easier going forward. I bought my wife a Cricut machine for christmas, and she's been using it a bit for the last week or two to make some christmas gifts for people. A Cricuit is essentially an easy to use plotter machine that cuts different materials (hers cuts card stock, cardboard, paper, vinyl, etc). So I decided I wanted to give it a try. I had a whole bunch of spare vinyl in the garage left over from doing the inserts in my dash, so I decided to try making some custom die cuts.

The program is super easy and can allow me to make custom designed stuff, I can even do printed out vinyl stickers for full colour, instead of die cut. So I'm going to play around with it a bit more and see if I can make some cool stickers. I'm thinking maybe a TEQ (old Toyota Emblem) horn button sticker for my spare horn button, some labels for some of the switches I'm going to have on the dash, etc.

wow...haven't posted anything about this since December. Probably because I haven't done anything with it since then either..lol.

Garage was wayyy too cold this winter, even with the heater in there, to do any of the work I need to do. At this stage I need to be doing some painting, some welding, and removal of glass. Cold metal + all of that = you're gonna have a bad time.

So with warmer weather in sight, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the one part I actually need to finish something on the car, the front suspension. Ordered a new KYB strut insert this afternoon to replace my blown one so I can throw the struts back together and get the front suspension back together and down on the ground.

I'm hoping that after April, I can really start spending more time on it and get some itshay out of my garage and get working on it to hopefully have it on the at some point this year. Probably with the 4AC while I work on the 4AGE.

I actually did something on this car recently. I'm as shocked as anyone!

With the nice weather this past weekend, I managed to get 2 hours to work on the car and the garage. I spent probably an hour and a half working on the garage getting it cleaned up from the lack of attention I've given it in the last 6 months.

But then it came time for the car. First thing I did was finally got around to cutting the seat rails off the stock passenger side seat so I can start fabricating the rail for the passenger side Recaro seat I've had sitting on my tire rack for the last year. Came apart nicely and is sitting waiting for me to break out the welder and start fabricating. I also think I'm going to try and modify the brackets from my Supra seats and put them in as well as a more comfortable cruiser seat option. Since I have them and since it'll be fairly easy to do as well, why not?

I also got around to fully bolting on the GL front end. I had the headlights in place for months, but the marker lamps/surrounds were just loosely put in into place. I needed to replace the plastic screw clips to hold them in place before I could bolt them up fully. So I got around to doing that, and popped the grill in. I also decided to do a mock up of my front lip (it's a MK1 GTI front lip), so I held it in place with a couple zip ties. I'm gonna have to make some brackets once I get it ready for actual installation.

I think it looks great, but I still have to figure out if I want to run without a badge, or with the TOYOTA badge

I'll need to restore/modify the badge if I want to retain it as its originally designed for the North American spec grill.

I also had a chance to start pulling the wiring harness out of my factory rotted hatch lid in preparation to remove it. I'm hoping to take care of that sometime this week so I can pull the glass, seal, and wiper motor out of it and take the old shell to the dump when I go to throw out my old washing machine. The new hatch is going to get some epoxy paint applied to the seams to keep rust from forming, then it'll get installed. Then, onto the floor patch, sealing the front frame rails, install suspension and get the front end back down on the ground.

Easier said than done. It's actually plastic with a thin aluminum wrapped around it. If I keep it, I'll most likely paint the surrounds gloss black and paint the TOYOTA white or another colour that's going to go with the overall colour scheme of the car when its done.

Like TRUENO

Nah, they never made a Trueno version of the E70 chassis Corolla, so it'd be weird. They did make a Levin, but it's a 2 door fastback version. If I went with OEM badges, the other option I was thinking about was the Corolla C XXX badge

But the badgeless look works well with a similar paint colour to what I want to paint the car in.

There's some spray-on fake chrome for plastic, too. Or you can do vinyl or vacuum metalizing.

Oh I know they didn't make a TRUENO, but I meant in the style you see on TRUENO's.

All white.

wow...didn't think badge would get so much support. May have to try a restoration on it soon.

With the help of the wife last night decided to tackle the hard part of swapping out the hatch doors.

I still need to hook up the wash nozzel (debating if I'm going to keep it and the rear wiper or if I'm going to delete/patch them over), and run the wiring down to the defroster, wiper motor (if I'm going to use it), and licence plate lights. I did find that between 79 and 83, they did change the wiring connectors for the licence plate lamps from a bullet style connector on the older models to a proper 1 pin snap in weather packed connector for the 83.

I also had to clean the glass on the hatch to make it feel like it's new.

Much better!

I was also debating about building a roof spoiler for it too. No one makes an off-the shelf one, but the guy I bought the hatch off made this one for his car and has given me the template:

There's another style that's a bolt-on that I was thinking of trying to make as well, but I'll have to see if I can figure out the dimensions and how to bend it up.

Thoughts on roof spoiler?

Now that the garage is up over 15 degrees inside again, tonight I may start working on the patch for the drivers side floor pan so I can get it taken care of, seal up the front inner fender liners, undercoat them and get this thing back on the ground finally.

That roof spoiler actually looks pretty cool but you'd need more bosozoku style zaniness to go with it.
