Old cheap easy to get ahold of front derailleur
« on: April 28, 2017, 09:11:50 pm »
I just bought a $40 garbage bike from Kijiji with the intent of riding around town. Gonna replace the pedals and re wrap the handle bars and re pack the hub bearings and away we go. However it came with an old shimano skylark rear derailleur and no front derailleur.

90% sure this rear will work great, but im at a loss as to were to get a front. With these lever style shifters, does the derailleur type matter? Is indexing an issue?
Can I look for any old front derailleur?

Try these guys. They get all kinds of cast offs:

I found a bike on the side of the road which I put back into use for less than $100 through these guys.
