What's to do in... Calgary?
« on: April 30, 2017, 10:14:16 pm »
Hey guys,

My cousins from HK are coming for a Friday-Monday stint, but I'll be working on the Friday.  Are there any recommendations for things in town to do on their own for the day?  He is 35 +wife and toddler.  This is their first time in Canada and I don't want to screw this up.

Many thanks

A couple friends of mine were in town this weekend from Regina and didn't have a vehicle. I was thinking about this question and this is what I came up with:
1. Zoo
2. Telus Spark
3. Glenbow museum
4. Walk around the parks/rivers/downtown/malls
5. Eat ramen/Neapolitan pizza/dim sum/Korean food (Regina doesn't have good places for these things)

If they have a vehicle Banff is an option too.

The Zoo is always a good choice.

Calgary Olympic Park might be cool.

Calgary Tower is a decent additional option. Especially if they're downtown for the Glenbow anyways.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Nose Hill. Weaselhead. Crossroads Farmers market. Downtown street art. Made by Marcus or Village for ice cream. the zoo and spark are cool and great for kids. Especially with the zoos canadian exhibit.
I had the same problem this weekend. Some friends from university were in town and its tough to think of what to do... Since Ive never been a tourist here, in my mind all there is to do is eat food and drink beer, which is what we ended up doing. If theyre coming from HK, it might be worth it to go to Banff and ride the gondola and hit the hot springs.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

We are heading to Canmore and exploring Banff/LL for the weekend but I wanted to generate some ideas for the Friday that they're here.

So disappointed that tubing is not an option right now :(  That would've been fun for them.
