Yeesh.  Dan's always threatened to pull his tip out on me but...  Now that I see it, doesn't look very intimidating.

And since I'm on a roll and Chris seems to be AFK

The video of Dan molesting my feet.

Totally blocked that one out of my mind.

Man I sure hope the evil has been sufficiently exorcised from your car by now - I'm stressed out just reading about all the issues you've had!

A few things to update on over the past few months…

August 24, 2017 – 85,000km
After spending the better part of the summer driving with a windshield that was completely pitted (it was original to the car) I decided it was time to replace it. It got to a point where driving into direct sunlight or nighttime driving in rain was becoming hazardous. I had it replaced at CalAlta on Horton Road and have nothing but great things to say about the service.

A more in-depth review of my service here.

To follow-up, I had the PGW glass installed instead of the XYG and I am very impressed, I have still not found a wave in the glass 8)

September 16, 2017 – 88,500km
A few weeks rolled over and I met up with Diamondedge to replace my exhaust gaskets since the overpriced steel Grimmspeed ones I originally purchased were not doing their job… At the same time we also zip-stitched the splashguard back together to cover up a hole the original owner cut into it to speed up oil changes…

We replaced these with Remflex graphite gaskets and so far they seem to be holding up much better. I highly recommend these if anybody is planning to do exhaust since they are cheap and work very well.

I also decided to test out the Sylvania ZEVO LED interior bulbs from Canadian Tire on a whim and I am thoroughly impressed with the build quality, even light output and the colour temperature.

On the left is the ZEVO, next to an eBay “cool blue” LED on the right.

After finishing everything and driving back to my apartment trying to enjoy the throaty new exhaust note from no longer having a leak, I overheard a rattle at ~2100rpm. Of course this isn’t out of the ordinary for a Subaru so I got under the car where Diamondedge and I discovered one of the bolts on the heat shield from the downpipe had sheared off. After fiddling around with it for a while we said uckfay it and I had the Centaur Subaru deal with it at my next service.

October 15, 2017 – 90,618km
So my headlights were starting to get some minor hazing which I wanted to correct before it became a bigger issue. With help from Gabe and the Meguire’s headlight restoration kit we were able to achieve some pretty phenomenal results.

Before:

During:

After:

Side-by-Side:

We had to quickly stop by Gabe’s car before grabbing lunch. It was a nice day so he requested a photo next to it.

October 25, 2017 – 90,700km
Since restoring my headlights I had them along with my mirrors wrapped in clear 3M (shoutout to Kanji) to prevent oxidation and any hazing further down the road as well as paint protection for the mirrors – hopefully this works. I also picked up a set of Morimoto XB LED fog lights back in June, which I had wrapped in yellow and finally got around to installing and leveling.

I’m very happy with the cutoff.

For now, that’s about all I have to update on. I did purchase a BaysonR V-Limited style front lip late in the summer, which will have to wait until next year to be installed. Also, new winter shoes are being installed and mounted this week so I will update on those later.

TL;DR

New windshield. New exhaust gaskets. New interior LEDs. Headlight restoration. My electrician buddy Diamondedge posing next to his car. Headlight, fog light and mirrors wrapped in 3M. Installed fog lights. New winter tires this week.

The difference between the before and after of the headlights is night and day! Well done!

Thanks everybody. I'm super happy with how they turned out and the 3M protection is fantastic (especially if you're super OCD and don't want to risk spray bombing them and getting an orange peel effect).

Did the ebay LED's burn out / flicker??

Yeah bro, thanks but I had to toss them out because they were driving me loco with the amount they flickered lol

I'm going to be putting mine on in the next couple days I imagine too. I'll wait to see how much snow falls before I take the lip off, it's only been a problem bombing through lake snow drifts.  ^-^

Can't wait for your impressions of your new winter tires. Also, that fog light cut off, yaas. Looks good man, glad I could help you get it going.

Also, my truck is high but not that high.

I saw Gabe's insta during your headlight restoration and man it looks sooo good. Actually it looked even better after comparing yours to mine last week!

I used the same kit for my lights but I probably felt too sketched out sanding the plastic that I probably didn't sand as much as I should have. Will have to give it a second go when spring rolls around now that I know how clear they can turn out. :o

Anyway, back on topic, yes.  LDS mentioned that Gabe restored your lights, so I asked him to do mine too.  And then Gabe mentioned that Kanji filmed your lights, so I asked him to do mine too.  Thanks princess!

"Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days" ...I guess it's been longer than I thought.

So I've been holding off on posting this publicly because it was a hard decision and came with mixed emotions however, I accepted a job and will be moving back to Kelowna, BC at the end of this month. Lets be serious, I'm a little excited and below are just a few of the things I get to look forward too (again):

-PST
-Seemingly lacking Subaru community
-Grey winter skies
-Scorching summer skies paired with my pale skin
...

But in all honesty no more long distance with the girlfriend, new challenges and learning experiences with the job opportunity, and being much closer to home all played an important factor in my decision to move back. That said, if any of you are coming through let me know and I'd love to meet up!
