It’s taken me a while, but I’ve decided it’s time I better start a build thread. I can’t believe that 5 years ago I purchased my dream car, and it remains that to this day! For the first while I didn’t modify it too much, but slowly since then I’ve started to make it my own. I’ve dug up some old photos, and will do my best at showing where it all started up to where it currently is today. Stay tuned as I’ll continue updating this thread moving forward! I have some more parts to install as well as a tune at Airboy next month!!

Shortly after I purchased the car, I realized how much better it looked with the front lip.. so on it went.

I also never liked the chromey headlights, so I decided to paint the housing black. It’s always intimidating when it comes time to tearing these apart..

In the end after a whole lot of patience, they turned out great!

Now.. what’s one of the first mods any Subaru owner would do? So I picked up a used Apexi Catback. Later on I ended up changing it to a 3” Ebay catback, as the Apexi was only 2.5”.

I was also lucky enough to scoop up a set of 04/05 taillights at a good price. Oh.. and I also had to get the Rally Armor mud flaps.. because Subaru.

A friend had a used double din Sony stereo, and was nice enough to give it to me on my birthday. Looks so much better then the stock stereo!

Soon it was time for some more aggressive wheels. I decided to go with a more affordable option in the XXR 527’s. Got them in a 18x8.75 with a 225/40 tire.

I drove with them on the stock suspension for a little while, but grew tired of all that wheel gap.

So I picked up some ISC coilovers. Sitting much better now!

Next it was time for a little more power. I picked up the V3 Cobb Accessport and later on purchased a Tomei downpipe.

I even did a little “custom” work with the stock heat shield :P

I ran the orange XXR setup for quite a while.. until the summer of 2016 when I decided I wanted more MEAT. I found some 18x10 RPF1’s for sale with a 265/35 tire, and was committed to making them work!

As I expected, it was going to take a fair bit of fender work to get them to fit. These GD body’s do not make it easy.

Rolled the front fenders and I also pulled the rear fenders.

And after a bit of time and patience, I found the stance I was after!

I also filled in the tire letters with just an oil based sharpie paint pen. Very easy and cheap way to get that tire lettering!

I eventually needed to replace the stock brake pads and rotors, so I went with some Stoptech slotted rotors and pads.

I got bored and decided to change up the colour of my wheels. I’ve always liked black wheels on a white car, so decided to try that! I do miss the purple, but love the clean look of the black.

I had replaced my tires with some Falken Azenis (265/35/18), and I always wanted that big white tire lettering! So I picked up some 1.25” letters from Tire Stickers.

Dat fitment.  Oh man.  What's the offset?  265 on 18x10 on a GD...  You're insane, but end results are amazing!  Welcome to the forums

Haha thanks buddy! Its a 38 offset, and I've got 5mm spacers all around. Definitely took a bit of work to fit, but was worth it ;)

Been a little while since I posted, so figured I'd update this:

Summer of 2017 I decided it was time for some more power and a proper tune!

I went ahead and installed Tomei Equal Length Headers with a GT-Spec uppipe/dump and a Tial 38mm External Wastegate

I also added a Tactrix 3-port boost control solenoid and Cobb SF Intake W/ Airbox

Unfortunately before my tune appointment I noticed my clutch slipping.. So I went ahead and brought my car to TT Auto and got a new Exedy Stage 1 clutch installed along with a re-surfaced flywheel. Terrance did an awesome job on install as per usual!

Finally it was time for the long awaited tune!!

Overall tune went well.. however my car was leaning out at higher boost levels due to a bad fuel filter.. So it was left on a low boost map (14psi) where my fuel could still keep up.

I later went ahead and installed a DW200 Fuel pump and a new fuel filter.

After that was complete, Sunny sent me the higher boost map. I sent Sunny a few data logs, and everything looked good!! Car felt great and I’m really happy with current performance!

I also picked up a Crawford AOS which I’m installing in the next week or 2.

Fun thread!

After 10 years, I still love my '06 WRX, there are occasional bouts of hatred, but overall the love wins out.

How's the heat shield holding up? I'd thought about doing the underside of mine like that as well, but ended up going the turbo blanket route.

Still holding up strong! I'd likely swap to a turbo blanket in near future though as well :)
