Pam - Bear Claw!
« on: July 09, 2017, 07:14:40 pm »
I was going to drag this out, and build hype, until the reveal, but there's just too much going on for me to try and be a hype man. So without further ado, I bring to you... Pam:

Dusty1 by Jory Irving, on Flickr

Pam is a 1978 Ford Pinto with 114k on it. I'm the third owner, and I've had it stored since early 2008. Pam has a 2.3L lima motor w/ a 3spd automatic transmission.

No, it doesn't explode.

As far as plans go, plan 1 was to see if it runs.

It does.

Barely.

But that's okay. Because now I can pull it, and sell it, to help put this in:

"Parts" by Jory Irving, on Flickr

Which is a Ford Windsor 302, with a T5 transmission, and 8.8" rear end w/ 3.8 ratio and LSD. With matching driveshaft, wiring harness, and ECU.

Myself and Haplo went out to my dad's place in Langdon, where it's sat untouched for 9 years.

We've moved it to a temporary home at Haplo's place, since I have enough cars in my place.

The paint's in decent condition for a car that has 10 years on me. But where it really shines is the quality of the interior... After a good vacuuming. Not so much on the colour however.

If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Thanks to Canuckrz research, and Haplo's weird assay schedule, we managed to score a '96 Explorer intake manifold (upper and lower), which is apparently a cheap 15-20hp gain. The biggest issue is that I'm going to be nickled and dimed to death on this swap. The things I know I need:

  • Upper Intake Manifold
  • Lower Intake Manifold
  • Clutch Kit
  • Mustang II Engine Mounts
  • Pedal Box
  • Exhaust System
  • Radiator
  • Rad Fans
  • Distributor
  • Modify rear end for leaf springs
  • Mustang II oil pan/sump
  • Shifter
  • Shift Knob
  • Electric fuel pump
  • Fuel regulator
  • Fuel lines
  • Fuel injectors

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.

Best part of that old thread is where you say you've never done a compression test.

Then you owned a Subaru.

And have now done more compression tests than you can count.
