A new forester XT in Edmonton!
« on: August 04, 2017, 01:28:07 pm »
Hey guys and gals! I've been on the forum for a couple years now but I'll re-introduce myself. My name is Mitch, I live in Sherwood Park and I've owned a GC8 STi until I recently imported my 2002 Forester XT.
The Forester arrived with a few JDM goodies such as a strut tower bar, Kenwood Nav system, shift knob, cannon exhaust, HID headlights, aero accessories, aftermarket speakers, a cargo cover, aftermarket alarm, wheels, and winter tires for some reason. In the 3 days I've owned it I:
-Inspected all fluids, belts, and maintenance items
-Replaced front pads and rotors
-Installed a fresh set of summer tires
-Installed a sub woofer
-Scored a roof rack (Still need to modify to make fit)
-Hardwired a dash cam (Because Edmonton)
-Restored the headlights
-4 hour detail including wax and paint protection

I'm not too sure on what my immediate plans are for the car as it's fully loaded and ready to go on road trips. I'd like to load up my camping gear and take a few weeks and start exploring out west. Suggestions are welcome as to what I should work on next!

Neat, you're the only other local I've seen with the dash top headunit enclosure.

Thanks guys! I'm actually loving that headunit haha. I'm trying to find a way to install North America maps for the Nav system, since the nav works but I'm currently driving around the pacific ocean off the coast of Japan so it's not too helpful. The speedometer on it works great though!

Very nice, always fun to see more Fozzies out there. :)
I broke it.  Just like how I'm going to break you

a piece of bread for dinner.  Want to come over?

Wow, that looks great. I didn't realize the SG started in 2002 in Japan. I thought it would be a couple of more years before these would be coming over. So clean.

Is it the 2.0L or 2.5L?

Thanx! :) Yes Japan had the XT's in 2002. This one has the 2.0L (EJ205-D). It would be the same motor as the North American WRX Bugeyes.

Nice! Looks really clean! Are those little strakes on your A-pillar for wind noise? Do they work?? You could 3M your foglights ASAP, before our roads claim another!

My old Premier (Pioneer) AVICf90bt used iGO maps, which you can download for North America... As far as uploading them, I hacked my unit as soon as I bought it, so it was just copied over from an SD card. Which probly doesn't help much on the Kenwood front :P

I'm still messing around with my N6 setup in my double DIN:

Thanks for the tips! Nice XT :) Those little things are aero accessories, I haven't noticed them actually help with wind noise at all but I kind of dig them 8) I'll have to sit down with the Nav one day and try that out. And yes I agree, 3M is necessary for our winters, luckily I worked as a 3M installer so I'll have to get some material soon!
EDIT: Ordered a pair of Lamin-X yellow fog light film.
