car dies after starting, wont drive.
« on: September 14, 2017, 10:21:17 pm »
**To preface this thread, it rained for an hour or so pretty heavily in my area, and I left my intercooler off and hood wide open, not sure if that has anything to do with my current issue.**

Decided to start a new thread since my last issue is no longer my main concern.

I replaced the knock sensor in my 2001 forester stb sti, and suddenly the car no longer idles or drives.

I pulled the MAF and it seemed to idle better, so i cleaned that, put it back in, and let it idle, and it didn't instantly die which was an improvement.

However as soon as I backed out of the drive and tried to drive the car hit a wall at 1500-2000 rpms and instantly bogged down. I stopped giving it gas and the car died on me.

Now it's back to not idling without dying.

Any ideas?

Any modifications to the car?
I may scream like a dainty lady, but I punch like a fairly strong 11-year-old.

completely stock.

After doing some more research it sounds like it might be a clogged Cat, but for it to just all of the sudden get this bad after seemingly being fine doesn't make much sense to me.

Any easy way to check for a clogged cat?

Fixed! Turned out to be a bad MAF combined with a loose screw on the I/c.

Thanks to Coops1313 for coming by to help me find the issue and bringing me a new MAF

Hey, can I ask what MAF you purchased for the 2001 STI Fozzy?  Would it be the same maf as a 2002-2007 WRX/STi?

Thanks!
