Weird circuit board found in shift knob? (Solved)
« on: October 11, 2017, 05:00:59 pm »
Edit: Went to the store and picked up a 3V 2036 battery for it, popped it in, and it turns out that its attached to an array of led's and they light up through the mesh looking top half of the knob. Neat!

Hey guys, so my shift knob has had quite the rattle since I got it so I decided to take it off to tighten down the allen bolts that were holding it down, but when I was doing that I got curious and took apart the shift knob as to see if the allen bolts on the top of the knob were actually holding something down or if they were just for looks (they were fastening the knob together). I took it apart and it separated into two half's with some weird circuit sandwiched inbetween them. It has a long button probably about an inch and a half long in the middle that after i put it back together, I noticed I could press the button through the top of the shift knob.

The shift knob looks to be momo but doesnt have any branding and was one the car when it came from Japan.

Any ideas on what this is? I'm stumped... Two battery's are mounted to the bottom but there is no additional wiring or anything just the circuit board.
More angles/ closer up pictures can be provided.

Can you set it to one colour?!
That's pretty tacky, but I not-so-secretly love it

Yeah each individual color has its own setting thats just stays on and there is one setting that cycles through all of the colors on a loop.

This is true, probably wont get much use at all and i'll probably forget about it but it's kind of cool and nice to know it's there.

That's pretty sweet. I have a light-up shift knob but it's just LEDs on the top that play little animations. That one is way cooler.
