WSC Sim Racing Championship
« on: November 02, 2017, 04:51:22 pm »
Hi all.  We have run these in the past using Gran Turismo,  but there seems to be some more interest in the newest version of Project Cars.

My thoughts on the poll are,  If you were to buy a game to race in an organized Sim Racing season here through WSC...  What game would you be most into playing?

Keep in mind that I don't own either yet.

The rules as we have run them in the past solo series.  I am always open to revisions to this format as of course some will be required (PC2 lack of PP system, dependant on recording lap time features... stuff like that)....  This is cut from the previous solo series thread.

Competition Summary/How It Will Work:
We will be using the Playstation Network (PSN), but you aren't required to set up a WSC Solo only user/PSN Name. You will be required to hook your PS3 up to the network (might be able to get around this too - Honour System) We will run mini series of 10 races to keep it accessible.  Schedules permitting,  we will try and organize a shootout for the top competitors.

I like the idea of people racing the cars they want.  The limits will be set based on PP,  not the car.

1. Game Selection: GT5P, and GT5
2. Track/Course will be set - mandatory for everyone
3. PP and Physics will be set - mandatory for everyone if in Arcade, pre-determined or optional in On line Mode.  Car's will be participants choice
4. Suspension/Transmission/Driving Aids such as Traction Control, Stability Management, Driving Line - Set or Optional dependent on Mode
5. Game Input - Wheel/Six axis, clutch-stick, paddle will be user choice
6. You will have 1 week to practice and obtain your best 1-lap time (or thereabouts)
7. Save your "Best Lap Ghost Replay"
8. Submit your time prior to the deadline via PM here on the WSC forum to Jackal -- Please include your PSN Name (for time verification)
9. Points will be awarded to the winners
10. Champion declared after the final race of the season -- Might be able to get prizes if people are interested

Qualifying Lap Rules:
1. Two (2) wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
2. Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
3. The green painted concrete next of the rumbles is not part of the track
4. Runoff areas are not part of the track
5. No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
6. If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
7. No hybrids (Not sure what the eff this is, but I think it has to do with leet hax)
8. No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races
9. Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
10. Save your best lap/ghost replay

Points System: F1 System:
1st - 10 pts
2nd - 8 pts
3rd - 6 pts
4th - 5 pts
5th - 4 pts
6th - 3 pts
7th - 2 pts
8th - 1 pt

There is much less interest in the digital championship than I thought.  :'(

As an Xbox racing sim gamer, I am unable to participate.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Dirt Rally or Dirt 4. I know Dirt 4 for sure has cross platform leaderbords on every race. And you can see your friends. You can also create championships.

I own both of those. Should we do a WSC sim rally championship?

What about a PC one? I'd pony up to get Dirt Rally... it's only 20 odd bucks right now

Dirt 4 would include all Platforms so I think that would be the best bet

For people playing on PC, there is a sale happening right now on The Humble Store for Dirt Rally and a bunch of other racing games. https://www.humblebundle.com/store/promo/racing-sale/
I occasionally stream games on Twitch

I only chose the PS4 set of games as that's what I own,  and wasn't going to set up and run a league that I couldn't play in.  I still haven't committed to a game yet as with Cyber Monday looming I thought I'd see what deals are out there.

After watching every video on this genius' YouTube channel, I am more and more inclined to build a PC racing sim set up.
Check it out, it is INSANE!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQS1ZB3BVSrBo3tCs7PyfxQ/videos

Goes into such explicit detail on how to build and modify various modules & pieces of equipment.

This video & the build tutorial for this button box is what got me started.

I'm sure most of what is used for PC could be used for xbox / PS4 but don't quote me on that; I'm still researching.

I've already got Dirt Rally, and would be interested - but have we decided on Dirt 4?

I know the Dirt 4 has cross platform functionality but I have failed to find if it is also cross generational. Sadly I may have to bow out if the PS3 does not have access to the racenet system online.
Does anyone know as I can't find out this info anywhere.

Over the holidays I played GTS and settled on that for purchase.  I haven't played it as much as I'd like due to me not having a wheel for the PS4,  but have gotten into it a bit. If there is interest in a championship like this on GTS,  then I may revisit running one.
