SOLD: 1998 Subaru Forester S
« on: November 10, 2017, 10:05:54 am »
1998 Subaru Forester S
255k
5spd manual
$1500
Location: Cold Lake
Contact: 306-840-eight five zero nine.

Was my daily driver/beater car for the last 6 years. Regularly maintained and never let me down, stranded or wouldn't start. Bought it as a winter commuter to my summer toy which is now gone so the Forester is not needed. It's a great little car for around town. Nokian WRG3 all-weather tires - never have to swap tires for winter, these are awesome in the snow. Heated seats and block heater, also included are the OEM roof bars and rear cargo cover.

Within the last 40k:

  • New Shocks
    New Starter
    New Plugs
    New Headlight bulbs
    New belts
    New Tires
    New Battery
    New Radiator
    Head Gaskets/timing belt/clutch done @ 160k
    Rally Armour mud flaps
Doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil or coolant.
    Heater and A/C work.

The quirks:

  • Standard Alberta cracked windshield (Does not impede driver visibility, has been like this for 5 years - snackers fault)
Airbag light will come on periodically or when the steering wheel goes to full lock. Most likely a bad connection in the airbag on the steering wheel.
Speedometer has a mind of its own and inaccurate sometimes. Tried to fix the issue but its something inside the gauge cluster. Better off just buying one of those GPS USB Speedos for $40.
Exhaust leak on the midpipe just past the resonator.

Overall its a very dependable daily that won't let you down.

Bonus: Will include the factory repair/service manual for free. Just bring a USB stick and I'll transfer the .PDF file for you.

FYI: I've had the airbag light thing happen on a couple of my older subarus. Both times it was a broken clock-spring which is a super simple fix. $6 for one at pick n' pull and 5 minutes of work to replace.

Any chance you're driving it down to Calgary any time soon, I'd buy it :)
