Subaru Calgary WSC Service and Parts discounts.
« on: December 18, 2015, 02:51:12 pm »
Hey Guys,
O.k. so I chatted with Paul Craigen today (Service Manager), and he's definitely pro making sure you guys know we appreciate the community. This is what I know so far:

Parts - 15% discount on all Subaru parts and accessories

Service - 10% off on all non-menu items. (Things like repairs)

Menu Pricing - No Discount This is set by Subaru Canada.
A = $95
B = $440
C = $700
D = $1200

Descriptions for what each of these include can be found HERE http://www.subarucanada.com/WebPage.aspx?WebSiteID=282&WebPageID=18541

Because I know this will come up:

Question: Why is menu pricing different depending on the dealership I go to sometimes?
Answer: You don't have to take everything in the list for each service, and it will reduce the price if you do so. So some dealerships don't necessarily include everything, or they will include extras.

For Example, if you don't take the cabin air filter you get to save on that pricing. Or you could opt out of the Brake Service in B. Now I know that Warranty is the big question if you begin to not take certain things on the recommended maintenance but if you choose not to take something don't worry. We don't keep a black list and take away all of your warranty if you do this.

What we say is that we warranty it if it's a defect from Subaru. If an issue were caused by a modification or lack of maintenance on an item which causes the issue then it won't be covered. So using Brakes as the example, if you opt out of the clean and lube for your brakes and then come in 2 years later and they are seized then we will look and go was it a bad seal from Subaru or was it a lack of maintenance that caused the issue. If it was lack of maintenance then you are responsible, if it's a bad seal then we are responsible. I think it's pretty fair.

I hope this makes sense and for clarification ask me or Paul is always happy to chat with people regarding warranty and modification. He has over 30 years experience, worked with Domestics and with Nissan. So he understand the drive to lift and lower and tweak and perfect a vehicle and wants to make sure we can support that.

I'm working on a few other options for discounts as well, will let you know how it goes.

So HERE is the rub. You need to be able to prove that your a WSC member. Admins what do you figure the best way to do this is? Gotta have a sticker? Gotta have a lanyard? Is there a member list we can reference? Let me know and we can make sure this all happens!

If you ever have issues in service see if I'm around and I can come help mediate or at least get another ear on the situation. I'm not a tech or anything but I've got some pull. ;)

Best Regards,
Drew~

We should make WSC ID cards with join date and post count. And a picture of current Subaru car.  So second class citizens who drive S2k's or British cars don't count.

Third class citizens if they have both.

Tough crowd.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

Just make up a card which folks can print for themselves.
You can't force them to make known their userID/personal name.

We already get 10% WSC discount without having to show any kind of membership.

Pull up WSC on your phone at the parts desk, and show it to whoever's working there. It should show your name, profile picture, etc. at the top of the page

Sounds a lot easier to me than distributing ID cards, etc.

And once we do this once, we can be entered into your system with a note saying we are a WSC member. Then we can just get by showing our drivers license or giving out phone number, etc.

O.k. so for now I agree with the general sentiment. Let's keep it easy, anyone whose not a part of WSC isn't going to know about WSC and probably won't ask for the WSC Discount. We also have about a hundred computers in the building so if we need to check we can.

Anyway I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a start of the New Year. I'm checking out until the 4th!  ^-^ So will talk to ya'll soon.

Regards,
Drew~

Well, thats pretty neat of you guys.
If in doubt, check the license plate frame? I think most active members have one.
But as mentioned, if someone knows of WSC that should be enough.

Happy holidays.

Yes, the discount still applies.

Note, it saves the parts and payment team a whole bunch of time and effort if you ask for your WSC discount before they present you with the invoice to pay, and especially more so after you've paid.

I'm bad for that.

They did ask me for proof of membership last time.  I didn't know what to give them...  I told them I was jellynuts and we both stood around looking lost.

Just tell them you don't need to prove membership. If anyone gives you grief drop Drew's name. Or mine. But Drew is bigger and carries more clout.

Dude, you know I'm working on that.  :sarcasm:  But yeah definitely name drop if there are any issues with it. At least until we work out the secret handshake...

Bump. At the dealer today for hopefully warranty repairs, in case it's not covered does the discount still apply now that both Drew and Shane are no longer working there?

You should be fine. If anyone in parts gives you grief just ask for Immi.

If I wanted to buy the Sport Mesh Grille would the discount apply?
Part Number: J1010FJ000E1
Sport Mesh Grille Quartz Blue Pearl

I remember asking about it (couple of years back) at the parts desk at my local dealership and the guy sounded like I was asking for a miracle.
Wonder if you could quote it for me with discount? (in a PM?)

Drew and Shane no longer work for Subaru Calgary. Your best bet would be to call and ask for Immi. That being said since you're in Edmonton I'm not sure how worthwhile a 10% discount would be once you factor in travel or shipping.
