Red's Tessa - 2002 Toyota Altezza
« on: November 21, 2017, 10:23:28 pm »
2002 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z Edition Limited

Specs:
3S-GE Beams Blacktop
- First Toyota motor with dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence.
- Last generation of the naturally aspirated 3S-GE block - cast iron 2 litre.
- Only came in the JDM RS200, 210hp was only available with the 6-speed manual (the auto received less because it's the plebian way)
- Compression ratio of 11.5:1.
- 210hp at 7600rpm and 154ftlb at 6400rpm. Oh yeah, high revs.
6 Speed manual
Torsen LSD with 4.10 rear end
- ... If I blow the internals of the diff, I can actually go to a 2005 Tundra, raid that rear end, and be good to go. Toyota parts bin, man.
153k km.
- This ratio was also an oddball in the RS200 world. From what I've found online, most came with 3.916 or 4.083. I'm not sure what that 0.017 is gonna do, but it's there.
Dat chorograph cluster yo. Some people don't like it. I, however, do.
- Big tacho in the centre, goes to 8100rpm
- Digital speedo in the bottom right
- The water temp, volt, and oil pressure behind the tacho.

If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

It's a trailer!

With the exception of no spoilers... Which Disney needs to take a lesson from.

Thor would have been so much better if we didn't know Hulk was gonna be in it.

This is the most dramatic post so far in this thread.  Calm down there.  I'd accuse you of having the patience of a 13 year old girl waiting for her parents to drive her to CrossIron to pick up her glitter balm, but I know you're closer to menopause you old bag.

Yeah, that's gonna be dealt with, along with the polish and wax.

Many bad ideas.

I'd like to, work schedule dependant, however.

Do you know how much longer you gotta wait?!

Too long.

I actually have no idea. When I get the email from B-pro I'll know.

In my infinite boredom, I figured it would be a good idea to make a shift knob.

So... I ordered some nylon round rod, but that might not arrive until it's too late.

And then in a drunken youtube binge, I saw Peter Brown's video here:

Thought that a shift knob out of jeans/denim/micarta (I can also use cotton/t-shirts) would look really cool and be better than a metal knob and have a little more variety than the black nylon offers.

Today, I bought:
- Resin
- Wood - for molds
- Wax paper - release agent
- 5/8" Dia. rod for threaded inserts

And I've cut up several pairs of jeans and will start figuring out how to make a cool pattern in the layers.

... Actually.. I'm not bored. There are three more weeks of school left, studying is a constant, babysitting doggos, more studying...
Yeah, bored.

Week 6:

The Altezza should be clearing customs sometime this week...

And then the truck ride from Vancouver to Calgary, which I'm estimating to be about 5 days after it clears customs. One day for the driver to get there, two for the way back, one to unload, and then the OPI and registration.

It might be ready for next week Friday... *fingers crossed*

Was told it would clear customs this week... Haven't heard anything.

I've been doing some Windows shopping...
HKS Coilovers for when the current suspension needs replacing.
HKS Catback For when I want to further damage my hearing
HKS Long tube headers... ^ ditto

HKS has currently been the brand of source cause it's the only thing I've really found, in terms of headers and exhaust. Coilovers, cause I was already there.

Also, a HID retrofit is in order. After poopy lights in the MR2, Civic, and Ferd, I'm in need of good lights at night. But, as it's a black car, I don't want to run blacked out projector lights, so I'm thinking medium grey with halos.

And aftermarket horns to go behind that mesh grille. I originally had some Sickspeed horns on the LW2.0 chassis, and they were... well, loud and they were cheaper than Hellas.

Wheels have also been a consideration for the summer, though it's more of a "that'd be nice... but other life priorities" as the OEMs actually are pretty nice on the car.

My OEM tire size is 215/45r17, 17x7 +50, and I'd like to stick around 16-17'' wheels. I'm not a particular fan of the whole slammed and deep dish wheels (I picked the wrong car to avoid that crowd...) and would love to rock some Methods, but the wrong offset might disagree.

I'd like to run Raijin, but 18'' is too much. That said, EKM3 seems more in line with my wants.

But really, it's the waiting game to get into Calgary, pass the OPI, winter tires, stereo, and enjoy the car.
