Oxilam 4000LM Reverse Bulbs
« on: November 22, 2017, 10:25:48 pm »
Stumbled upon this thread on LegacyGT.com and got my curiousity piqued.  Years ago I had looked into a bright reverse LED light from Diode Dynamics, but at $90USD for the XP50 (410 lumens) it was simply too much.

At the time they were $28USD from Ebay, shipped from China, pretty reasonable.. so I bought a pair.  They're 100% plug and play, no modifications needed to the hatch.

They arrived 3 weeks later, nicely packed in a small cardboard box with form fitting foam inside.

Comparison with the stock 721 bulb, on the right:

Attachment to the Legacy hatch harness:

Holy crap they're bright:

Will take an outside shot later..

If you want super bright reverse lights but don't want to pay DD prices, I highly recommend these bulbs.

10/10 would buy again.  I'm thinking of putting a stock 721 bulb back on one side and using the other as a spare.

Edit: Links fixed.  Thanks!
They're going to park their car over there. You're going to park your car over here. Get it?

Can you take a picture of how far the light is projected? At 4000 lumens they should be much brighter than halogen headlights. I believe a 35watt HID outputs 3200 lumen.
I only ask because I have a set of 400 lumen reverse lights, and at the distance pictured in your last pic (illuminating the tires), my 400 lumen light up a similar amount.

I think your links are all messed up dude, the ebay link is a hyperlink to the diode dynamics lol ;D

I've never seen a reverse light setup with heatsinks though haha, interesting..

Curious - how are these things holding up to date after about 3 months of use?
Still working just fine? I may end up ordering a few pairs.

Ditto. My prologhtz bit the dust in 6 months. If these last longer I'm in!
I broke it.  Just like how I'm going to break you

a piece of bread for dinner.  Want to come over?

I don't know what kind of bulbs I bought from Blackmist, but I installed those a year or two ago, and they still work great
