Beans Blue Bugeye STi - Turbo and Tune
« on: November 30, 2017, 08:45:43 pm »
Well its been a while since posting here, but I finally have an excuse to get back on the forums.

I finally decided that Honda's are boring and torque isn't over rated... and I can at least post under the Subaru section of the "Ongoing Member Projects". I'm sure I'll get bored of not being able to turn, but I'll try the under-steer thing for a bit.

Anyhow, here's my wise decision and my heap of itshay.

Should be in Canada end of December. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this car.

Congrats on the purchase.

Should be in Canada end of December. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this car.

Drive it. Year round. Leave it stock. Enjoy it.

I'd throw on a bigger rear sway once you're sick of the understeer. And maybe a new double DIN.

Leave it stock.

I'd throw on a bigger rear sway.

These are not the same things.

I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.

Congrats!

I am mildly jealous, been looking at getting a Bugeye STi for a while.
I don't name things I know I'm going to sell eventually. Hence why I'd never name any kids I had.

The last couple vehicles I've had have been for the most part stock. I already have a truck for a daily so I'd like to mod this one and see what it can do.

Was hoping to for 350-400 AWHP + suspension, brakes, ect.

Just a thought, 17x9 will give you the flat face which, IMO, looks much better.

I ran 17x8 with 245 wide MPSS, the sidewall looked a little ballooned. It drove fine though. I know it's a few months away, but I'm waiting to hear your impressions on the 615k+ tires, especially if you auto-x or track the car.

Yeah that's why I went with the 235's. Should be more of a square setup and less ballooned. I went with the 615+'s because there's nothing comparable in terms of price and reviews seemed to speak highly of the new compound.

I agree about the appearance....

But I read that that 17x9 won't fit without a decent roll in the rear. The stock tires on the V7 GDB are only 17x7.5 at 215/45/17. I'm thinking that they increased the clearance in the USDM model?

Using this: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator#
It looks like I gain 2mm of inside clearance and push out the rim 14mm.

This is exciting news!! What day did it clear customs, and when do you think it will be in Edmonton?

It cleared on the 15th or 16th. And the last I heard it should be showing up on Wednesday. I won't be able to grab it until next week since I'm out of town for work  :'(

Any one know how to wire up DRL's for a 01 STi?

When I did it on my 97 Forester I just jumped the headlight relay's like so:

But I can't find a wiring diagram to see if they relays are the same on the 01 STi.

I'm gonna guess it'll be similar to a 2002 USDM Impreza's wiring harness?

Page 90 of this PDF:

Since you won't have a DRL module, doing the jumper trick will accomplish the same thing it looks like.

I jumped the headlight relay's on my STI when I had my oop done. I will try to look for the diagram when I get home, but in the meantime, can you take a picture of the inside of your fuze box cover? That will usually lead me to the right place.

I turned the lights on and taped the switch neatly. They shut off with the key and turn on with it. It passed.

Car is home and registered.

With everything that was said about Brian and B-pro, I figured I'd give my 2 cents; I'd import another car through him.

So with that internet drama out of the way, I received a text from the shop last week. The hydraulics on the car hauler froze and my car was stuck on the semi. After a few days they ended up backing up a flat deck and driving the car on to that in order to get it unloaded.

I got to the shop later in the week and called a flatbed after it passed OPI.

Home and on jack stands.

Then I needed to justify my purchase and find cool things about the car.

Cool key.

Cool brake vents.

Cool IC spray and turbo heat vent.

Cool exhaust.

Not so cool bent rim.

Cool unbent rims.

Next time I'm back from work I'm hoping to pull the engine and start refreshing that. Figured I might as well take a look at the clutch and flywheel and order a replacement while I'm at it.

Wish they had taken pictures of unloading from the car hauler onto a flatbed, that sounds sketchy and/or hilarious as hell. Glad it's home.

Did you know about the bent wheel when you bought it?

Neat thing about the functional brake cooling! That's pretty cool!

RPF1s, Falkens, I'm pleased with everything I can see. 5Zigen for mad JDM street cred, how loud is it?

Those brake ducts were on early 02 WRX here in North America, and all the bugeye fender liners have the shape but not the bottom plate to contain it!

Yeah, I bought a set out of desperation from Bryan, and destroyed them in the next event. The zipties, they do nothing!

Congrats on the car and glad to hear relationships are restored.
