05 impreza 2.5rs fuel level
« on: February 12, 2018, 08:56:00 am »
We are having trouble with a fuel gauge that "sticks" just below half a tank. I removed the whole sender assembly and cleaned the board contacts.
It did not appear to fix it =(
The float travels through its range fine.

The other odd thing is the fuel light does not come on at the end of the tank..

What's in the other hatch on the drivers side of the trunk?
What else could this be caused by? Gauge works fine but just stops way too early...

Interesting. Annoying.
Why?

One covers the bottom half of the tank, the other covers the top half. GrantC has a thread where he replaced both of them in first his WRX, and then his STi, as it's a common failure point on the GD Subaru.

If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

It's also because it's a saddle-shaped tank to clear the diff & driveshaft.

It adds the resistance of the two of them together, so they both need to be cleaned/replaced if you're chasing that type of issue.
