2012 STi Hatch intake silencer delete but no difference?
« on: April 09, 2018, 11:19:59 pm »
So I went to go and do the intake silencer delete on my hatch and realized it wasn't there, I noticed the fender lining was gone so maybe the person before me already took it off. But I don't here any spooling or blowoff sounds at all ?

But you're building boost normally? Things drive fine? It's a very subtle sound for the BPV. I can hear my BPV and I still have my intake silencer attached. But only when
1) roads have snow on them so the studs are quiet 2) I'm not really IN it so the exhaust doesn't overpower

Is the opening still open or is it sealed off?

Mine is deleted too and it's hardly noticeable if at all- however I've heard some people block off the hole with a lid from those tennis ball cannisters. May or may not make a difference though.

Yes car runs fine and still pulls very hard, I don't have a boost gauge to see how much pressure I'm. It's only got 60,000km on it, also that hole is not plugged off it's just open currently. And I definitely cannot here it, I paid super close attention and so did my buddy still no spool or bpv sounds whatsoever. It just feels like a super quick N/A car while driving I miss those turbo sounds a lot from driving my gc8

Update

I covered the hole where the intake silencer would be and it hasn't made a difference, still can't hear the turbo at all

Yeah ngl I find I only hear it when I drive with the windows down.

It's really marginal and the only real way to get more sound is aftermarket (w/ tune)

The clear solution is a bigger turbo.

I never noticed any turbo noise from removing the jug on my STI.

The AEM pond sucker made some fun noises though.
