Vegas - Where To Stay
« on: September 05, 2019, 12:09:29 pm »
Booked a random last minute flight to Vegas next week (Wednesday - Saturday) with a friend of mine and I am looking for recommendations on where to stay.

We will most likely just be looking to hang at the pool, party, eat, gamble and other fun itshay in and around the strip (definitely want a younger crowd at the hotel). We would like to stay somewhere pretty central on the strip and keep our room around the $200 a night mark.

I've stayed at the Wynn twice and Encore once (they're pretty much the same building just different towers).  Probably the nicest places to stay in Vegas IMO and if you package it at the right time with WestJet you can get 2x brunch buffet vouchers daily (which is regularly $50 a person.)  Highly recommend. The Encore Beach Club is 10/10 in every aspect.

My other suggestions:
Palazzo
Venetian
Bellagio
Caesars

Avoid the places with the dark stained carpet floor that smells like itshay the moment you walk in ;D ;D

I go down there for conferences at least 2-3 times a year, below is ranked best to worse and oddly enough the cost follow the same order. But you've gotta ask yourself: Are you really going to spend time in the room (its vegas after all)?

Oh, I couldn't really care less about the room lol. I just want a nice pool/deck area, young crowd and for it to be centrally located.

Aria has very nice pool side cabanas totally worth renting one, my hangover favourite
The cosmopolitan has one of the best rooftop pools there

Every morning I'd get up, eat a ton of bacon, then go sneak onto a cabana at the Wynn's pool. Nobody ever questioned me and I one time splurged on an $18 drink while I was there to make it look like I actually belonged. The best.

The year after I stayed in Old Vegas (Freemont) in a shittier hotel but was there for a 3 day festival and on our last day we brought our previous Wynn room keys and used them to get onto the pool there ;D

Been to Las Vegas a couple times,

The Cosmopolitan was probably my favorite hotel, its located centrally, the rooms are really nice and they have a lot of really great options for food. (Try Eggslut, great breakfast) It is more on the pricey side, but the other part I loved there was not a huge walk through a casino to get to your room. Every time i stayed I asked for an upgrade and was pleasantly surprised to get a balcony over looking the strip, and if your really lucky you can get a view of the fountains right next door.

The flamingo is another decent spot in the center, its cheaper, and has a nice pool area. It is older but you can book a renovated room and they are fairly priced.

I prefer the pool at the cosmo, and I think they are still running their evening movies at the pool which is always fun.

Stayed at the luxor, but would not suggest it, too far south, and not a great pool.

I've stayed at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, and the Flamingo; they are all fine and their quality is in that order. I didn't spend much time in my room and instead spent most of it walking the strip(s), outlet shopping, eating, and gambling at various casinos. Caesars is the only pool I went to and it was fine - I'm not a big sit by the pool guy for the most part. It did have a really good buffet and the food court was good.
I'd say, unless the pool is a major attraction to you, go for one of the cheaper places to sleep and store your stuff so you have more money to spend elsewhere. There are also pool parties you can buy tickets to if you're not staying at that hotel.

Also, check out deal sites like groupon for tickets to shows and buffets.
