Air pump delete CEL
« on: May 14, 2018, 09:40:23 am »
I bought my car with the air pump deleted (block off plates) but i still get CEL every day about them (P0410 and P2444, iv seen a few others but they haven't showed in a while) Is there anything i can do myself to fix it or do i just go to someone and have them tune it out for me? It doesn't effect anything it just annoys me when i have lights flashing and my dccd controls, cruise and traction control turn off. I am using an obd-2 Bluetooth port reader.

You can do it yourself if you have a Tactrix Cable and the software.

Drive 4 hours to my house and I'll do it for a high five.

Can vouch.  He did my LC and FFS (and later took out FFS at my request).  Although, he never gave me a high five.  :(

Following as im fedup with the ecl coming on for this, yes, I can quickly clear the code via blue tooth OBD and an app, but it's still annoying so I will be deleting the air pump the next few months.

When you do finally delete the air pump, you will still need to delete the codes that go with it (P0410 & P2444 on mine). I'm trying to get rid of them but no one close to me can do at this time. So i live with constant CEL's  :'(

I have been living with the CEL for the past few months. Recently installed KSTech air pump block off plates (that bottom passenger valve bolt was quite the mission). Been running Cobb OTS Stage 1 ACN 91 since March.

I've called Vex and they told me the air pump would need to be removed completely (basically, block offs are not an option with them) before they would remove the CEL codes. I tried to ask how much it would cost to just get the codes removed if I did the block offs myself, but I couldn't get my point across.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the only way I could clear the codes myself, is by completing the EFI University course to get AccessTuner Race.

I've reached out to Torqued Performance and TurboTek Tuning to see about getting a "better than OTS" map with the air pump codes deleted, since the EFI University course costs $150 USD anyways. I don't really care about the performance aspect.. I just want the CEL gone. Any thoughts/input?

Have you... have you asked Airboy? I don't know how much he would charge, but why not reach out to him directly, rather than asking Vex?

I never ran Cobb, I used Romraider, and deleted the codes myself.

No, I haven't.. I should though. PM sent.
I'd much rather have my money go to someone locally.

Long over due Update... I got SSS Motorsports to clear all my codes a few months ago, if you have an access port i would recommend them! No related codes have shown up since. Took 15 minutes and it was worth the 30 bucks IMO.

Awesome.  I've been crap-posting in threads so much lately, I forgot what it's like to legitimately help someone.

Good to hear. I did some googling after posting in here, I didn't realize they restricted AccessTuner in 2016.

Sounds like a miscommunication... I had the air pump delete done on my old WRX at Vex a few years ago, and installing block off plates is exactly what they did. It's too bad that AccessTuner got restricted (maybe too many people were blowing up their cars?). I used it to delete the codes myself, resulting in a discounted rate from Vex for the service.

Congrats on getting rid of the CEL. Disabling the cruise control is such a dirty move by Subaru.

I can delete any air pump related codes as well as do the delete with the correct block offs.  I own a repair shop that does this procedure regularly and it is quite painless lol.  PM me for info.

Out of curiosity does anyone hear a whistling noise after removing their air pump and adding a block off plate. My buddy got his done and has been hearing a whistling noise ever since so just wondering if that is normal.

On my 07 WRX there was no whistling or other unusual noises after deleting the air pump and installing block off plates
