CMyles E90 2007 328xi Build Thread
« on: May 24, 2018, 09:55:37 am »
So I figured since I have already started stock piling some parts, ill put together a thread for organization.

I wanted a comfortable yet modifiable daily. The WRX was great.. but Subaru just .. doesn't have my heart anymore.

Car details:
2007 BMW 328xi
Automatic, Pretty basic package, Canadian model, 130,200km when picked up.
Heated seats, Sunroof, and all the typical boring BMW things.

I had been considering buying a BMW for quite a while now, initially looking at 335's last summer, and falling in love immediately after driving one.
I had a 2008 335xi lined up, with a few nice mods and clean bill of health... when the seller sold it out from under me after agreeing on a price.
That being said, it led me to the forester, then to the 09 WRX, which helped me in getting this car.

At first sight, the car was extremely clean on the exterior. Headlights and taillights were smoked, not the greatest job, but it doesn't look that terrible.
There was only a few small dings, and the paint seemed to be in very good condition. No rust, or signs of rust, no bumper scuffs, and no cracks in the windshield.
The interior was in good shape, however it looked like the guy had not vacuumed in a year, i took it with a grain of salt.
There was a book of receipts of work done which included oil pan and oil filter housing gaskets, oil level sensor, and some oil changes. The guy had the car for 3 years and he had only put on over 15,000km in that time.

The car came with a set of the factory style 156 wheels, a set of replica BMW 5 spoke wheels on winter tires, and a set of VMR710 reps with all seasons, not a bad deal!

So after it being only the first 3 series I looked at this year, it was priced extremely well, came with all 3 sets of wheels and tires, and was in really damn good condition, we agreed on a price and I picked it up a few days later.

So far, I've picked up a set of the M Sport springs, which should give it a mild drop, with it being the XI model, the suspension is a bit higher than normal. This should drop it 0.5"-0.75". I've also picked up a 15mm spacer for the rear, and last night I picked up an AC-S replica poly lip.

That final generation of the N52 motor is apparently the smoothest and fastest revving NA inline 6 BMW has ever made. Enjoy it!

October.
If the sea was vodka, and I was a duck.
I would swim to the bottom, and drink my way up.
But the sea isn't vodka, and I'm not a duck.
So give me the vodka, and stfu.
If you're having forum problems, I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but your post ain't one.

I love how smooth it is, its almost too smooth.. definitely not a subaru haha.

October.
I say August.

Well, at least you avoided the 335. Those turbo motors man.
To be honest, I was okay with the issues, and was looking at something to tinker with.. however the cost of them in retrospect to the issues I just couldn't justify.
Especially for one with either low km, or the issues fixed, it was a hard pill to swallow.

Let's see where she goes!
I still think you should wrap it that blue color!  >:D

I still don't have a vision for the car, or a choice for a wrap color..
I'm considering picking up new wheels tonight, 18x8,5 / 9.5 staggered with same rolling diameter tires .. so those should fit better. We'll see if I get them.
