Where do you buy your brake pads?
« on: June 05, 2018, 10:38:41 am »
New threads, new threads everywhere!

Anyway, where do you guys get your pads from? I need new front and rear pads for my Formula's. I'm torn between organic and sintered, but think I'll try a fresh set of organic and see how they wear.

Thanks

Give Alex a pm. He works at a parts shop in Red Deer

You can also give Bryan a pm. He works at Tunerworks and get you parts.

Tunerworks... I'm looking for mountain bike brake pads. Is that what you were referring to? Thought I'd make sure before PMing and looking like an idiot lol.

I got Nukeproof sintered pads from Chain Reaction last year.
I may scream like a dainty lady, but I punch like a fairly strong 11-year-old.

Lol, figured I should clarify.

I've checked CRC but they don't appear to have any pads for Formula. Is there anywhere in Calgary that deals with Formula? I don't need them immediately though.

Brake pads

Sintered- Last longer but are more prone to noise

Organic - Quiet but don't last as long as sintered

Things to consider

Some rotors only take organic pads and will be laser engraved on the side to say so
Confirm the rotor is within tolerance (same as a car this is a min material rating for rotors )
A proper burn in procedure is required any time you change brakes
If you are changing pads may be worth bleeding the brake system
If the old pads are contaminated with grease or oil there is a high likelihood the rotor is as well

Where to buy.

Local Bike shop.
I would stick to same brand replacements unless absolutely necessary. Have seen some aftermarket brands not include parts like pins or pad springs, Even worst they have more material then the brake has clearance for you have to sand down your brand new pads .

Cheers
